setting default audio output ???

using Core 2 duo 2.13ghz/2 gig ddrs-533 ram Creation Station - Moto 896hd audio interface. with Sonar 7.0.2

After having to reinstall, and at various times upgrade Sonar and ascending versions, I have had to manually reassign
the outputs almost every time.for every existing audio track and softsynth output....IS THERE A WAY TO SET THE DEFAULT OUTPUT OF ALL AUDIO /SOFTSYNTH TRACKS ???

You only list the MOTU...do you have another soundcard (internal, perhaps?) IOW, what is it defaulting to if not the MOTU? And what would you like it to default to?

You need to untick some outputs in the drivers section

    That's how it defaults

If you want tracks to go to certain places you can save them as templates too and whenever you launch them they will default to wherever you set them

Thanks for responding.......the MOTO has 5 stereo OUTPUTS...I usually only use the MAIN OUTPUTS....This time after having to revert my computer to it,s original state (erasing all user programs and settings on C drive) All my tracks are defaulted to MOTO PHONES OUT.....I'm thinking that if they all are using PHONES as a default I should be able to default all the tracks to a assignment of MY CHOICE...I tried deselecting all outputs except MAIN and the outputs of the tracks went to "NONE"...Being able to set it would save me from having to reassign ALL MY SONGS..HELP!

You can right click on the output you want in the bus section of the track view an select Set as default. All tracks will go to that bus/output by default. In your case do this to the master bus.

Also, if you tend to have a fairly routine set up you can set up project templates - that's what I use.

So you can set up tracks to go to buses and buses to go to master and master to outputs -whatever you like - and it's all set up.

You place it in the list of templates so it shows up when you click 'new' - very handy

Or you name it Normal.tpl and all your settings will load up anytime you fire up Sonar (as long as you have the "Load Normal Template on Startup" box checked in the Global Options)...a great time saver.

Thanks everyone but I needed a fix for all my existing audio tracks in existing projects...not a starting point for new projects. What I've found that works is selecting ALL tracks..going into "TRACKS"pulldown -selecting "OUTPUTS -and selecting the desired output....This assigns all audio/&softsynth output to that selected output.....it ignores midi tracks and is a one-step process.
