What is your opinion?

A friend of mine welcomed me into his studio to show off his new audio interface from steinberg, the mr816 csx. i think its pretty decent and it integrates with the included software well. what you you think about this?

I think your friend seems very hospitable. It was nice of you to visit and listen.

    Yes.
    The MR816 works well...
Provided you're using a good TI chipset Firewire controller.

The unit uses a large hidden safety buffer (high round-trip latency)
But it provides the option of working at a 32-sample ASIO buffer size.
This "off-sets" the large hidden safety buffer... allowing you to achieve low round-trip latency (albeit at slightly higher CPU use)
If you have a fast machine, you can run substantial loads at the 32-sample ASIO buffer size.

The onboard Rev-X reverb (same as found in the Motif XS series) is actually a very nice sounding reverb.  I wouldn't buy the unit based on that alone... but it is a nice extra.  Steinberg allows the Rev-X to be addressed as a VST3 plugin.  Cool idea... but locks you into Cubase (or Studio One - which lacks many advanced features).
