plug ins don't work right

I just got 8pe and I can't get any of the plug ins to work in real time. I am pretty sure I already registered everything correctly. Is it supposed to be like this? if so I made a huge mistake switching to sonar. p.s. by not working in real time I mean I can't alter any of the effect's while auditioning the sound.

Like they would release a version with all plugs that dont work. This is user error, no cakewalk error

What plugins? What OS? What machine specs? Did you read how to get help in the sticky section above? I think CJ is on to something with "Like they would release a version with all plugs that dont work."

that is what I figured. I just can't figure out why they won't work. I am completely new to sonar and am really liking it I just can't get these plugins working. A little help would be far more helpful than stating the obvious

Yes you are right but saying it doesn't work is not helpful in us trying to find out why. We need a lot more info on what you did and how you did it. Then the other things above would help too.

As far as what I did is just recorded some piano real quick just to check out the plug ins. Then I selected say the lexicon then hit audition then tried to change the parameters. when I did this nothing would move so I tried a different plug in, again nothing.

Where are the plugins put in Sonar? In the FX bin? When you say audition how do you see audition? Is it listed as an option? Are you using the Process menu to do this?

Yes I used the process menu I went to process, adiou fx, then slected the lexicon, it has a button that says audtion on the right side of the plug in which is the only way I've seen to preview the sound

You want to right click in the track header's FX bin to load them. You might want to look at the help file ....

That is not how you do it. Right click on the FX bin in a track. That is the box that is empty a list of plugins will pop up click on the one you want. It will go into the bin as an insert. Double click on it if it isn't showing its GUI. From there its under your control.

You're not an idiot here just new to Sonar. The process menu is where you can apply an effect to a track but its done as a destructive edit and not in real time. I think you will like how the FX bin works.

BTW the reason you couldn't get the audition to work was you hadn't selected a source track or clip to apply the effect to. In a way its good you didn't.
