Important Windows patch.

Microsoft just issued an emergency security patch for all MS OS. A new viral threat is spreading across the net and infects computers without your interaction.

Here's a link to the MS patches available:

...security patch for all MS OS...

I don't think this applies to Vista, just XP and W2K.

Also, this shouldn't affect you if you have a 192.xxx.xxx.xxx, 172.xxx.xxx.xxx or 10.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address.

    EDIT:
Forgot to say thanks for the heads-up, GH. I am among those who are vulnerable, as I have static, public IP addresses.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Hi Guys,

Can you suggest a link to an actual Microsoft site where this patch is available? All I found were links to the typical fear monger sites and there were many comments in the primary link that also asked this question... I didn't read far enough down to see if there was an answer to the question: "where is the official Microsoft technote?"

    thanks,
    mike

I applied this patch to my desk top biz XP machine... when I tried to apply it to my music lappy with Vista... it told me the patch was not necessary.

I'm on XP so I'd really like to read the official docs.

    edit to add:

OOOPS I see the microsoft link I wanted was right at the top... I was at the bottom getting wierded out.

I just did 2 crazy unscheduled days on the road and had just gotten back home when I saw this notice.
