Still learning to mix

Hi All, I've had my little project studio about 2 years. Up and down as far as how well it's functioned and how much time I'm in it.
This tune is a cover - I'm working on getting good tone to tracks, compression, balancing, eq, melting it all together, getting good output level. IWO mix101. No mics - Slate Drums, Revalver III and my Lakland bass direct. 11x11 former dining room is the reason I work this way.

I'd like some critique on all the aforementioned stuff, and anything else you'd add. My use for this (why there's a hat count-off) and a couple others I've done is playing along with live. Thanks for listening! -Shep Here's the link:

Edit - I have plans to record stuff i'm writing, I just want to be good at executing a mix, rather than futzing around frustrated...

    I see you're ready for 201.

It's quite good IMO. Wish i could mix like that.

Ouch my poor speakers lol. Mix sounds pretty huge to me. Everything sounds seperated nicely. There is some crackling during the real thick parts but my speakers might be blown now. Cool stuff, I'd like to hear some vocals over it.

Sounds good. I suck at mixing. Mixing is truly an art...

Man, thats some "extra crispy" guitar. Sounds really good.

As far as suggestions, the only thing that jumped out at me is that I think some drum fills in the break sections, or maybe some more 'up front' percussion (bigger drums - or something), would counter that guitar better.

    But again, sounds good.

Thanks very much for the kind words and tips. Nice to feel like I'm in the ballpark.
Maxprizm - Did you hear the crackling when played more quietly? Please advise.
barlowjam - Does extra crispy decribe too much in the midhigh/high range, or too distorted, too loud, or maybe a combination? Please advise. I made the drum parts pretty much like the original recording.
Thanks again, hope I can be help along the way as well. Take care, Shep

Cool tune - I still have the Revalver MK III demo on my computer, and it sounds impressive here.

The mix sounds very good on my rig.

I like this Jeremy Camp tune. I didn't like the beginning until the heavy part kicked in... Nice mix...esp the wah at the bridge...more of that would be cool. Drums sound good. I can't tell if anything is real anymore or not, but they sound real. Nice heavy sound. Good tight ending.
