Looking forward to what you come up with Doc, not been playing my drums much lately, you think you might want to take that task off my hands?

I might have a crack at 'em myself yet mate - I've got EZDrummer and the DKFH add on now, plus one of these to play with:

What I suggest we do is wait and see what lyrics we get back and how and where she want's them to fit - I'll work out a brand new arrangement if needs be and then we can start sorting out what's going where.

I have to keep that solo though Grant!

Great to hear Steve, now that we all have more up to date equipment I think Sonar with some of your magic will yield a better drum track. I'm glad you still like the solo but wouldn't the song be to large for Soundclick then?

A quick calculation shows that the 10MB limit allows for a 128kbps mp3 file of 10 minutes and 54 seconds!

So I'll know what I've got to keep a new arrangement to.

What would be really great though is if we happened to know a Soundclick forum Mod who could wangle a 40MB 'pro' account for himself free of charge

I happen to know a Mod there and he tells me those tight wads don't even give the folks that work there anything for free, but I'll check with him to be sure.

That would be cool.

I also really like Cataclysmic as a working title Grant.

If we need some sound effects of people screaming in agony I'm sure Pete would volunteer to be connected to the mains electric for us - I should imagine 47 tracks should suffice

At least he could then genuinely claim to have recorded something

Thought you'd appreciate that mate

There was a misprint in there though, I meant to say 470 tracks of unadulterated agony for the latent one.

BTW, did you see my other two new toys?

I traded my old Japanese series Fender P-Bass for this little beaut (2nd hand) with active electronics:

And I finally added to my Line 6 collection with this amazing bit of kit:

I did feel a bit guilty for about 4 seconds though

Sweet X2! I love the looks of that Line6 machine, but it looks like they forgot to install the pickups.

Yeah, it's a little strange getting used to it at first - there are piezo pickups in the bridge.

All the guitar models electronics and stuff is built into the guitar - I got it because they were offering the Lin 6 WorkBench software free with every Variax. You can install any of the pickups in any of the guitar bodies and customise till you're hearts content - the pickups can be placed anywhere at any angle and with as much gain as you can handle!.

I'm currently trying out a Strat body with Gibson PAF's set at +3dB - it sustains for hours!

Click on the SHS7XL-FIRST TRY link in my sig Grant - I haven't done any proper mixing to it yet but it's got all my new gear on it somewhere or other!

I forgot to mention Grant - because all the electronics are in the guitar, it can also do some really cool stuff like change tunings without retuning the guitar!

Just one click and your in dropped D, plus loads of other presets, plus you can use Work Bench to program your own!

Is that MIDI? I've heard of the Variax, just never seen one. Sounds awesome!!

After seeing your pics in the Sonar forum of your version of HSXL, I'm a little confused. My interface looks nothing like yours and I still have the old retail version of Studio Instruments installed. They sent me the 7.0.2 patch about a month ago. Mine is not XL, I got it from Musician's Friend about 2 weeks before I heard about the XL version. What is the difference?

Strummy,

Item 1 - You'll be doing the string arrangements? I feel put out. Shall I put my hand in a wine press now or later? Have I done enough whining yet? Really? Are you sure?

Item 2 - Look mate, about that Variax. You are really pushing to have me run out and get one along with a POD X3 Live. aren't you. You know I've resisted it for the last two weeks. But noooooo you have to dangle that carrot in fron t of me.....

On a more serious note It's probably best if you do the score to Cataclysmic. I have too much going on right now. I'll fill you in on the details after things start to fall in line. And that Variax is kickin'! I love the tone you got out of it. it's pretty sweet. Can't wait to here some of the other stuff you will be recording with that. I would be hard pressed to get one right now, timming isn't right. But I look forward to hearing all about it from you.... I can just see the twinkle in your eye every time you pick it up to play. Like child at Christmas. eh? I'm really happy for you Strummy.

Not MIDI, the guitar sends an 'ordinary' signal Grant - you can plug it straight into an amp and play away like a normal guitar.

I think this is why they designed it as a standalone - you only need to be connected to a PC tprogram the Work Bench settings and then save them to the guitar.

Which pics do you mean Grant - I just got HS7XL which is a lot different to HS6 - in a lot of ways not as good by the way.

Oi - stop whining....... Now!

If you read a bit more carefully you'd see I was offering to give the DRUMS a go in EZD, not the strings.

You are definitely still on for some scoring else I shall start whining - and you know what Strummy can be like when he's sulking.

Just go and get them this afternoon - carrot/stick stick/carrot - it's all the same to me you know.

Wow.

I knew Variax's were versatile, but I didn't know they could take your hairstyle back 25 years..

Is there a 'Nik Kershaw' setting?
