Song: "Think Again" - Please have a listen and comment

Hi All:

I have worked to try and get the mix to sound good - and would like any and all feedback, comments, critiques, criticisms, etc. Don't hold back - I've got thick skin.

The song is called "Think Again". It is in the "Song Tracks" section - click the "Open The Player & Listen" link.

http://www.ChrisForsyth.com/Music.asp

Thanks,

Chris

    Hi Chris,
I tried to take a listen but the link just opens up a window with nothing but a link to go to Adobe's flash page. Installed the newest version of flash and get the same thing again. I don't know what's up.

    Chris,

Very nice song and production. Your soundscape sounds very well done and entertaining (for headphone listeners). The mix has a nice "electric" feel to it that keeps the listener interested. I thought the organ introduced around 1:45 was just too loud. I thought it should have a bit more of an atmospheric feel. Beyond that, I think you did a tremendous job recording and mixing this one.

    You should be proud.

Hi Chris, you got a great song there. I love when the 2nd guitar comes in at 3:04.

I think it sounds good and also agree with the critiques from Tom. I think the organ may benefit from some more generous application of reverb to make it settle into the mix better.

    Hi there Chris

No crits from me - the mix/production sound great on my system.

I particularly like the way the song develops, the slight 'widening' of the mix at 1:03 is subtle but very effective.

    Very nice work indeed

Wow Chris! Man the whole tune is fantastic but your vocals are just excellent to me.

Really like the song/ arrangement. Sound/mix sounds great. This is top rate all the way.
    Congratulations on a great cut.

What a great looking site and I like the little player.

Thanks guys / gals - very kind words indeed, and I appreciate all comments and suggestions. And thanks Michael for the compliments on the site - wish I could take credit for it - but alas - web coding is definitely not my forte.

    Best,

I would say that your site is not cross browser compatible. I cannot get it to work either. I use Firefox.

Perhaps there is a temporary problem. But if not, given that a lot of music creators and artists use Macs and increasingly Linux, you might want to consider looking into the script code and find out whats not going right, because ASP should be relatively conformal to web standards. You may need to find and replace IE specific code, or add non IE specific work-arounds to allow all people to see and use your site

    Cheers

    Hi Shad:

I just had my webmaster try the site in firefox, and he said it worked perfect for him. He is running firefox 3.0.3 and said everything works great for him. He did say that some parts of the site have flash elements, so those parts might not work for you if you did not have that plugin downloaded in firefox. If you do have the flash plugin downloaded in firefox - could you maybe let me know specifically which parts of the site arent working for you?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Clicking on the "Open Player" link opens only to a sample called "Example", including the one for instrumentals.

I had the same thing happen as Shad, I'm using Firefox (I'm on version 3.0.3), but it works in IE.

The following information is far from a professional opinion, just my two-cents. I liked the overall mix - clean and nice spacing. The panning seemed to tax my ears not sure if it's a phasing issue or what.

Chris, this is a great song, great vocals and background vocals!

I had the same problem as Shad, but it's working with IE. Sounds great to me. Sounds like a great mix too--vocals very easy to hear (and they sound great!), and yet everything else is easy to hear too. Great job!

Couldn't get it to play in either IE or Firefox (I did download and install the Flash Player). Love the way your site looks - but that Active X control is pretty frustrating.

Hey guys / gals - thanks for the feedback with troubles. I had my web designer look into it, and he says everything is working correctly now - and that it has been tested accross all types of platforms. So have a go at it again and let me know what you think.

    Thanks,

Hi Chris great song, site works perfect in IE
in firefox either song when you click on it opens and song in the player called Example and not the tune selected.

You travel a wide area in this structure, almost like a medley.
the panning is busy but actually interesting when towards the end you use those wahed chords and then move them over to the right to give it a rythmic continuity but still allow you to enter the arpegiated chords in the left.

I like this song, great job. I'll be watching for great things from you.

Nice song and great vocals! The changes starting at around 2:50 were really unexpected - they were really interesting but I thought they might possibly be a bit "too much". I personally would have just cut it short and started ending the song there. I wasn't crazy about the snare sound, either. But these are just nit-picks and my opinions - I think this is a really good song and some tweaks could make it a great recording. Good job!!

Well Chris, your Web Admin leaves something to be desired, because now I get a "get an upgrade to flash" blank.

I have the latest flash. I have forced a full refresh. Still can't hear your song.

Hum, for Firefox I still get "example" loaded in the player window (http://www.chrisforsyth.com/Music.asp), but works in IE still - might be a caching issue in Firefox - oh well...

I didn't comment on how I really like the bass in the song.

Joseph - thanks so much for the comments - all are much appreciated.
Dan - also - your comments are very much appreciated. I forwarded the "example" issue to my web guy - hopefully he'll get it figured out soon.
Dave - thanks very much for the feedback - I've heard that from a few people - and may have to take that into consideration on a rework.
Foxwolfen: Sorry to hear that - I can't figure out what is keeping some people from being able to hear it - and others can. I have them looking into it again - hopefully they'll figure it out soon.
Jon C - thanks for the feedback and the comments [bass] - all are much appreciated.
