    I dunno.

Nor do I know why you'd want to post about it here.

I thought it was just an odd thing to say. I'm not looking for a discussion on the topic. Moderators can feel free to move or remove this post if they wish.

I guess we could discuss techniques on how to deal with outlandish, crazy tripe masquerading as journalism.

    This statement is hilarious:
Polls show that black voters are more likely to attend church than whites and less likely to be comfortable with equality for gay people.

So it's not that black people dislike homosexuals. The problem is that they go to chuch. I see......

LOL. Yeah, exactly what is Time Magazine trying to say here?
Oh well, what do you expect from the folks who picked Joseph Stalin as "man of the year" TWICE.

On this very OT note, I must say that I really appriciate that Obama included "gay or straight" in is acceptance speech, when voicing his gratitude towards the diversity of Americans voting. That's gotta be historic, no?

Both Obama and Biden said they were against "Gay Marriage."

    On this very OT note,

Sorry . I wish the mods would move it to a more appropriate section. Didn't mean to clutter up techniques.

Both Obama and Biden said they were against "Gay Marriage."

Most people are. That's why the ballot measures passed. Whether this is mass discrimination or simply the majority of Americans disagreeing with a particular behavior, is the real controversial subject. But I don't think we should get into that...

So.. anyone discover any new recording techniques today?

I think, on many levels, the only gay people that most Americans are really comfortable with are the funny sitcom ones and any representation -- factual or fictional -- of an attractive lipstick lesbian.

I'm going to resurrect Guitar Tracks Pro this weekend. Actual recording. Actual records. Or something. Maybe. I don't know.

Maybe it passed because some gay people voted for it. Think about it. Some of them might not want the social pressure to get married like hetro folks are faced with. If it’s not legal that gives you an easy “out”.

Just because you like someone enough to live with them doesn’t mean you would trust them enough to share money, possessions, and have them be able to make decisions about your health.

Polls show that black voters are more likely to attend church than whites and less likely to be comfortable with equality for gay people.

Bear in mind here that they are saying polls indicate this, not that they think it themselves. If the polls indicate it, then either it's true of the poll is wrongly conducted, and that would have to be where your argument would be targeted. I wouldn't be suprised if that particular fact is actually true, i.e. that there is a greater level of conservative religious representation in the black community, and that therefore they'd be against gay marriage more on average, because the vast majority of conservative religious people are against it. That doesn't mean necessarily that they are the reason it was passed or not of course, there would have to be further evidence to back that up.

I wouldn't be terribly suprised if it's not true either. But it just stands fairly to reason that if indeed either group is more religiously conservative to a notable degree, then that group would probably be more anti-gay.

There's not much historical evidence, I don't think, that groups that are the target of bias are in turn much less biased once they get into the mainstream themselves. The US would probably be a good example of that they are not. We had successive waves of immigration from various places over time, and I think it's the case that each new wave found themselves pretty much as discrimated against by those who came before them as their predecessors were.
