Miroslav Philharmonik (full) for $199.00

Just got Miroslav Philharmonik for $199.00! IKMultimedia is having a promotion until Dec 31st where you can by any of their virtual instruments (not FX) for $199.00. Great investment. Wonderful natural room and suprbly sampled full orchestra and choirs. Normal street price is $499.00. This is a world class library sampled in one of the best orchestral spaces in the world - so why is it not priced like Quantum Leap Platinum? It doesn't have the level of dynamic layers that that more modern programs have. This not a problem for me. At $199 this is one of the best software deals I've ever seen. FWIW it has a sufficient filtering built in so that it looks like I could get realtime timbrel change if I really needed it.

Did you get a second plugin free?
I got an email from IK about the $199 deal, and it said if I purchased any of the instruments, I'd get a second plugin free with an "upcoming" deal.

    Might want to contact them.

I couldn't find the promotion on the IK site, but here's a link to it at esoundz: http://www.esoundz.com/news1.php?nbr=3048

I didn't see anything about a 2 for 1 deal, though that would be REALLY sweet for someone wanting some of this stuff. I LOVE SampleTank2XL and SonikSynth2.

Good stuff. I just got ithe Gold version (download only) from esoundz for $99 Halloween scary week special. You get Miroslav Solo Strings, Choirs, Ensenble Strings, percussion keys, woodwinds, and Brass. It has some great sounds and I'm already composing a few songs with it. I prefer it over Garritan on quite a few instruments. Miroslav has a lot of articulations that come in handy and sound pretty realistic...

    Garritan

    Miroslav

Both have their strengths and weaknesses. It depends on your style and preference as well. Depending on the type of song I'm doing, I may prefer Garritan's solo violin over Miroslav's, or vice versa. I was lucky enough to be able to get them both at a decent price but I find myself using Miroslav more. I actually got Garritan first but found myself wanting more that something was lacking. I especially prefer Miroslav because of the articulations which are sample recordings of strings doing bows, falls, rises, runs etc that you can't reproduce with midi note manipulation or programming. Miroslav also has a decent useable choir with eh, oohs, aahs, and a variety of other annunciations. Garritan has no choir samples at all. To me, Miroslav is the better package overall, it offers a quite a bit more than Garritan. That's simply my opinion though. You'll have to judge for yourself by checking out their mp3 samples or maybe someone else will offer a different opinion...

However, if you can afford it, I would go for East West Gold or their more affordable less attractive Classical Edition Both Garritan and Miroslav pale in comparison to East West's quality and realism...
