Tony Joe White Cover (Taste Like Chicken)

So, another cover song...... I can't seem to break out and write at this time, but I still love playing and singing.

I have a couple new ones in the hopper, but can't break past the first verse......

Oh well.... Hope you like this. If you don't know him, Tony Joe White released "Poke Salad Annie" years ago. I downloaded some of his other work, and fell in love with this one.

Love your voice on this! I don't know this cover tune, ( I do remember Poke Salad Annie) but this is well done. Has that low-down/slinky vibe... very cool groove and well played. Sounds good to my ears man!!

    Nice clean recording.

I would pan the ride just a hair more to the center, as it is it distracts.

    Danley,

I've never heard this one before, but I liked it - top-notch performance. Your voice reminded me a little of Johnny Cash. Lots of tasteful guitar work as well.

IMO, pull back a bit on the high-hat to my left, or move it back and forth a bit.

    Nice job,
    Doug

    James, Doug,

Thanks for the listen.. Really appreciate the feedback. James, when you stated "ride", were you also referring to the high hat?

Next mix I will pull it in a bit.

    Appreciate Ya

Well it certainly sounded like a ride cymbal, but whatever metal ride-cymbal-like-thing is on the right side, it needs to moved center.

Well that's odd, not sure if SC is sick, but when I clicked your link (twice) it took me to the main SC page? I'll try back later.

Robby try the link on the third post down.....

    This is nice.

I like the way you experiment outside of the traditional sounds on your covers, nice takes on some ol' favourties there.

I hear what James is saying about the ride cymbal, you have a phased hi-hat going off in the left ear and the Ride cymbal in the right if you panned them both more centrally they'd not be as distracting.

    Nice quality on the vox.

    Good job.

great cover of this deep-down-in-Texas southern tune! great singing and guitar work- some notes on the guitar (or bass) are slightly out of tune which gives it a tastey distinctive 'flavor'...enjoyed it! thanks for comments on Dreams Come True!

    Danley,

Really nice playing on this, you have a great voice, so much so that i had to check your other songs out. I love your version of Sad Lisa, and Hurt. Cat & Cash would be proud.

    Thanks

That looks like a big pot of "Scrapple" :-) I've seen it made ;-)

Interesting to hear the guitar "not effected" but the high hat with FX? I'm getting a little too much of the hats and cymbals (for me), and I can't really hear the snare? I hear the kick? It was different!

Jamesyoyo - Got'cha, and your right. That has been a comment received often. Thanks!!!

I'm a old fan of TJW... He's the real thing... Good cover...

Notnat - Thanks for the listen. I agreed with your opinion about the artist. Love the blues he does (Like "Cold Fingers")

I like the way you experiment outside of the traditional sounds on your covers, nice takes on some ol' favourties there.

Jonbouey - Appreciate that. I am a little eclectic when it comes to styles that I like. If I thought I could get away with it, theres a few Broadway tunes I'd like to try.

great cover of this deep-down-in-Texas southern tune! great singing and guitar work

MarkeinFL - Thanks a bunch!! I just happen to be listening to "Dreams" again. It's quite catching. I will register at that site and download. Will be a good driving song....

Really nice playing on this, you have a great voice, so much so that i had to check your other songs out. I love your version of Sad Lisa, and Hurt. Cat & Cash would be proud.

Mark - Thank you much. I really appreciate you listening to some of my other stuff. I checked out your piece "Haunted Forest". Very Nice. The music "breathes", and "cries", I really like the acoustical work!! Thanks again....

That looks like a big pot of "Scrapple" :-) I've seen it made ;-)

Robby - I thinks it's just a big ol' pot of burgoo. Any way, scrapple or burgoo, it taste like chicken Thanks for the listen!!!
