Got ASIO4all

How does it affect my computer? Under Audio options/Advanced/Playback and recording WDM/KS is listed instead of ASIO. Isn't that better than ASIO?

Some sound cards have well written WDM drivers that can be as good as ASIO. However, That's not the case with basic sound cards like the Sigma Tel.
ASIO4All brings ASIO efficiency to cards that don't have true ASIO drivers by wrapping the WDM in a more efficient shell.
In most cases, you should notice a significant inprovement.

It's been a long time since I used it.
If it downloaded as a zip file have you extracted it?
There should be a readme or PDF file with instructions for installing. Do you see that?

    OK.
Under Options>Audio>Advanced, click ASIO in the Driver Mode box. Click OK, close, and restart GTP3.
Now under Options>Audio>General, you should see ASIO Panel where the Wave Profiler button was.
    Did that work?

It worked much better on my old Soundblaster Live, which had WDM drivers.
Do you see the ASIO Panel button?

edit. Don't worry. It doesn't change your existing drivers, it just offers a different choice. If for some reason it doesn't work, you can put it back.

If you are looking at the ASIO4ALL control panel, slide the slider to the left so it reads 256, or 128.
Adjust it to where you it's as small as it will go without the sound crackling. Might take some trial and error.
The advanced section will offer more fine tuning, but let's start simple.

OK, now close that, and try playing some tracks, or recording something.
Actually, if you click the input monitor button on a track, and paly your guitar or sing, you can hear how much of a delay you have. It should be much less than it was before.

Probably a good idea. The manual mentions that was put there for a Sigma Tel issue.
Experiment with the settings, and if it gets mangled, just hit Load Defaults, and you can start over.
    You're welcome.
A lot of us started out with ASIO4All. It's a first step down a great path.

You may need to go into Options>Audio>Drivers, and reselect your inputs and outputs.
They can change when you switch the driver mode.
I have to call it a night, but keep after it.
Open that PDF manual, and it should help.

ASIO will improve the overall operation of the GT product. Any help that the inefficient GT3 software can get is an improvement. It doesn't fix everything but it make it run a bit smoother. You may want to considewr renameing your aud.ini file to aud.ini_old and let GT3 recreate it when it starts. That does help too sometimes.
