[Track] Welcome To Eternity (beat, rap)
Well, I've not posted in a while and since this is a track heavy couple of weeks, I'll toss mine in. No vocals yet, but here is the beat (rough mix) and I'll replace this with the final when everything is done. In this you will hear : VELOCITY Dimension Pro Dropzone RXP Roland Groovesynth and Obviously Rapture... ...and nothing else. All composed in Project5 http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=894323

The busiest part sounds a little flat - 2D. I think the drums are too mid forward (my guess, anyway - maybe just oo loud), tho the panned roll works nicely. Love the bell. The parts that aren't so busy work the best. Nice beat and lead synth. And nice tempo and pace, a little frantic but it doesn't get away from you. Looking forward to hearing the final. @

Thanks. I still need to port it over to Sonar. I do all my actual mixing there.

Yeah nice track....... very punchy! Particulary like the bells and drums/percussion. Personally I like instumementals so i reckon i would prefer this to the vocal mix. Nice work Bestest, Paul

I liked this a lot. Can you explain how you did the scratching and the lead synth (that also sounds a bit like scratching, but melodic)? Thanks!

Yeah, man - digging this one! I'm sitting here at work waving one hand in the air - good thing my office door is closed! Nicely produced - there's a lot going on, but it avoids sounding cluttered. That main theme sounds great - I'd even call it 'epic'. Nice ending as well. Get those vox done!

Review: whoa, neat start, though it hinted to a more energetic song than what ended up following. There's a bit of a rhythmic disconnect between the laid back beat and the very energetic synth you've got going at the beginning. Then, the things slow down substantially by 01:00, though with a vocal on top it may work well. I think this track would also benefit from a breakdown some time after the 02:00 mark, as otherwise it can get too repetitive. And the beat could benefit from more variety, as it repetitiveness gets a bit too obvious. I'd love to hear this with a vocal :)

Thanks for the compliments. 1. The disparity for the music and the drums is that since the instrumentation is a bit busy at times, I needed to leave room for the Vox. Southern rap music usually is repetitive to a degree anyway, but the flow of the Vox and the constantly changing styles will spice it up. My "group" is a duo, so there will be two vocalists on it. 2. The scratching is a REX file from RXP I think (or maybe some other REX library, I can't remember, RXP's contents contain all my REX files). I used the panning automation in the piano roll for the effect (same with the Toms, which were from the Roland Groovesynth). 3. The lead synth is RGC Rave! 1 (minus the kick drum element) from Rapture ---> Expansion Pack 2 ---> Leads (hence "obviously Rapture" from the OP) Vox and final master will be completed over the holiday break after the Fall semester ends.

it is hard for me to judge, the tune seems to be screaming for vocals, so it doesn't sound finished to my ears. I'm not a big fan of this style, but it does sound good the whole way, nice use of synths. I'm not sure the kick fits, there's a lot of mid range, and the synths already have a lot, maybe you could tame it and keep only the low enf of it, just a guess... nice work, I'd love to hear this with vocals.
