I think "the dude" should go buy himself a cassette recorder. Recording music on a computer is not for the neophyte.

He didn't seem like a neophyte to me. I think the problem is what Dell thinks is appropriate for audio work.

If he has to ask what he needs, he didn't do his homework. Go ask a car dealership what car you need to drive around town. See what they recommend. I hope you enjoy your Ford Focus.

Yeah, sales people.(best buy, guitar center, name brand pc dealers, etc) aren't usually as knowledgeable as they pretend to be.

the thing that got me is the name of the machine "studio 17"... as for many companies a lot of them who aren't specialising in pro audio or video are just box shifters on commission.

If he has to ask what he needs, he didn't do his homework.

I didn't get that. I thought he asked them if their computer would work with Sonar and the interface he chose. They recommended a model by the name of it should have worked. They said it would. To me he was very specific of his needs. I'll bet the ones he was asking about this never heard of Sonar.

Besides he is from CANTON, MICH. a hop and skip from me no need for a jump. He has to know what he is doing.
