Yet another DAW mobo question....

Hello,

I'm finally going to build a new DAW. I've bought the processor; a Core 2Duo E6850, and have a new copy of XP Pro sitting around. I will be using my Delta 66 Omnistudio setup from my old PC, and also will be running an M-Audio 410 for the house sound system. I'm partial to Asus mobo's, but haven't kept up with the various Asus variations made today.

Can anyone advise a good Asus for a DAW given the above?

Thanks

Since I posted this question, I've been doing a lot of research. I tried searching this forum, which you would think would be the 1st thing anyone should do (RTFF, right?) but the search function is absolutely worthless. However, I came across a great suggestion, use Google to search this forum. (type "your question" site:forum.cakewalk.com ) From this search, I discovered that Asus boards are not currently favored for DAW work. I also checked the reviews on Newegg for Asus boards, and it appears they are currently producing "less than stellar" products these days.

So after 12 years of building Asus-based PC's, I have switched motherboard suppliers. I just bought a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R from Newegg.

I will let the group know how it works out when I put it together. (and upgrade to Sonar 8...)

I have the GA-P35-DS4 Rev 2.1 and have had no major problems. Had some DPC spiking but was solved with a beta bios which was updated with a production bios about 2 months later.

Let us know how the new gigabyte works out.
