    Hi-

Any ideas on this? I have some slow sustained notes on an acoustic bass and it feels & sounds unnatural to "just sit there". The Mod Wheel on my midi controller (Yamaha Motif) doesn't do anything. Do you folks use the Pitch Bend wheel for vibrato?

I'm thinking I'm missing something since they went so far to get realistic bass sounds (staccato, gliss, release sounds, etc.). I haven't found a Spectrasonics forum, but I can e-mail them if no one here has an answer.

    Thanks!

    Yes it does ;)

the Motif is probably set to send the usual Mod Wheel events - CC# 1 . Trilogy's presets are probably not set to do anything with these events , there must be there some routing of which controller is doing what -

assigning different functions ( like LFO ) to any controller ..maybe ? if so - its possible .. i believe there is also a value for the amount of LFO to pitch or amplitude..most synths has that .

Ah -- I bet that's it! The Trilogy User Guide has a MIDI CC chart -- I'll experiment a bit and let all the folks who are desperate to know what I find out!

    Thanks much!

    Susan,

I'm not at my PC now so bear with me. You can definitely do this. You have to assign the mod wheel to the LFO - it's down by the bottom left of the Trilogy screen.

When you figure it out, you can tweak how "strong" the vibato is with the LFO setting.

I'm sorry I won't be around my PC till the weekend (work gets in the way of everything!) - but I can walk you through it or send you my acoustic bass preset if you're still struggling...

Look in the signature for my email address....

    Hi John-

I've assigned the Mod Wheel to LFO1 in the Trilogy interface over the Pitch destination. So is the vibrato a function of the Pitch Modulation Depth plus the LFO settings? That's the way it seems to work, since if either the pitch or the LFO depth is 0 I get no modulation. Obviously I don't understand what I'm doing<g>! I'm more used to just setting the depth of the vibrato with the Mod wheel and triggering it with Aftertouch.

I know you're not available to look into this right now, so if I don't get it sorted by this weekend I'll e-mail you.

    Thanks very much-

I think you've got it. I can email you my presets (they're tiny). Pop me an email and I'll send them

PS - you could probably modulate the vibrato with aftertouch or anything else you want to.....

    Hi John-

You haven't e-mailed me anything yet, correct? Absolutely NO pressure (and I mean it <g>!) -- I just want to make sure you got my e-mail and that I didn't put yours in my Trash folder by mistake.

I did hear back from Spectrasonics. I can forward what they said if you like.

    Thanks again-

    Susan,
I just sent them out. You -did- send it to the right place .
They're not as "tiny" as I thought, they're 400KB each (I thought they were 400 bytes each - DOH!).

Anyway, I'd definitely like to hear what Spectrasonics said. I'm not an expert at this - I'm only one page ahead of you in the manual .

Is it possible to post on here what Spectrasonics said?  I have the same issue with Trilogy, and I'm sure others will have it too.
