Long Wait after record for audio to process..says busy!!! Help!!!!!

I record a clip...stop..seem to wait forever for the wave data to show in the clip...and don't dare do anything while it says busy ....or hell hath its fury...what is the problem. I'm recording audio with the asio driver .... M-audio 410. Any Ideas why that may be happening? do I have to change somethng in the aud.INI file for it this slow wave processing to go the hell away?

PC specs? SONAR version? Sample rate? How heavy a project?

I've had a similar problem temporarily. Never found out what caused it. Basicly, that sounds like the PC has too much to do. Is it in the Internet? Virus scanners etc. running active, checking for updates....

Just guessing. Give the info needed for an answer. I'm not saying I know the answer, though.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Should be an easy fix there Thug, no worries. Go to where your Sonar picture cache is, and delete all the files in there. When you reopen Sonar and use it again, your clips should draw instantly. Get into the habit if deleting the contents of this folder each time you delete a project so the wave draws are no longer left in the folder and you'll never have a problem. If this doesn't solve your problem, I have no clue as to what it could be. But I had this a few times and deleting the picture cache folder contents cured it for me every time. Good luck and let me know if it works. No worries, deleting the content in this folder will not mess anything up. The only thing you will see is each project you load for the first time will have to redraw the clips one time per project. Each clip you record should appear in seconds. :)

Ah most excellent twisted! Glad it helped you out. Did you just try it now after you read my post and it worked, or was it something you tried on your own? Just curious as it gives me a high knowing I just might have helped someone on here for a change. LOL!! So humor me twisted and tell me it was my doing! LMAO!! I had this issue a few times and it drove me crazy! I thought something was wrong with my pc or my hard drives were failing...man, I didn't know what the heck it was. I always have instant draws on my end, but even a 5 second punch in would take like 15 seconds to draw and I knew something was definitely not right. I'm really glad this worked for you...I just hope it works for Thug too as I know how annoying it can be. Just remember to dump the folder every once in a while and you'll be in great shape. I try to make it a habit of dumping it when I'm done with a project for good and it's deleted from my machine or when I delete several projects. I only keep 2-4 projects on my box at all times, so the redraw isn't so bad when I first load up a project after a dump. I find my pc runs much better without excessive waves and projects all over so I make back-ups and delete them off the hard drive. I bring them in when or if I need them again, then delete, defrag and it's on to the next project. :)

I have always wondered (ok, not 24 hours a day, but maybe occasionally wondered) why Sonar doesn't just recompute the waveforms it needs for a project, rather than keeping that huge cache. I have found it full more frequently than I like to think about.

Is your band playing in the NYC/Newark area on Dec 1? I am in the area overnight. More in the NY area than the NJ area.

DanziLand aint near Newark or Camden is it?

Good to know. I thought the Pic Cache deletion only helps when waveforms are missing (just a thin line instead).

I've wondered the same thing a few times space with that full folder, But what I really hate these days is how I no longer have control over where my files go during an install. I really am starting to hate that I choose my D drive folders and something ALWAYS gets installed onto my C:/program files directory. This first started with Sonar stuff for me, now all the other companies are doing it too. I know it's something to do with XP/Vista admin crap, but I'm a total control freak and do NOT like things being installed other than where I tell them. I don't mind that Sonar keeps the cache folder as I've just gotten used to it and have a regiment I follow for keeping my pc running smooth for each project and I'm a delete freak.

Actually I'll not be playing until probably the spring/summer and I'll be starting in England and then parts of Europe, and will hopefully end up in Japan. We're working out all the details on that now. It's rare for me to do many/any US gigs unfortunately space...due to the style of music I play. The melodic rock thing seems to be embraced more in Europe and Japan. That's fine by me because it's nice to get away, play mr rockstar wannabe for a few months, and then come home to the states where no one knows me and I can resume my job at Burger King dressed as the King himself waving to folks on the highway. LOL! I'm kidding, honest! ;)

Ah no, thank God DanziLand is in between Atlantic City and Philadelphia which is about 30 minutes from that dreaded place Camden (for its size, is more crime oriented than Detroit...go figure!) and an hour and 20 minutes from Newark. Mostly all retired mob bosses in my neck of the woods since it's pretty isolated, yet still close to Philly. I'm about 2 1/2 hours from NY, but about an hour from Giants Stadium in East Rutherford and 50 minutes from Lincoln Financial Field in Philly so I get to see some cool games from 2 different sides of the fence. Nothing like being an Eagles fan in Giants stadium I tell ya. But the way my poor Eagles are playing this year, it makes me almost want to become a Giants fan....but I just can't seem to give up hope. Kinda sucks that I'm a season ticket holder when the birds have a bad year, then again, even when they lose, there's nothing like a Philly atmosphere for any sports event. :)

Shame NY is a bit further for me than I'd like it to be. I'd love to meet ya and hang out...grab a few drinks or something. But believe it or not, the 2 1/2 hour drive is literally 4-5 hours if the traffic is bad, which it always seems to be these days, and it's a dangerous drive. Meaning, if you don't do 80, someone is going to plow into your trunk and I hate tail gaters and have serious road rage. LOL! So I try not to drive too far because I fear one of these days, I'm gonna lose it on some poor soul and I'll end up being the poor soul when he pulls a gun on me. LOL! Ain't worth it, so I keep to myself and stay fairly local or I hire a limo so I can drink and not be stressed when I get to where I gotta be. Hahaha! :) If you're ever in the South Jersey area though or you end up in Philly, let me know man! That I can definitely handle. :)
