are you talking about Antares Autotune? are you downloading the demo of it?
what is the EXACT message you're getting?
how are you opening it in MC? give us details on exactly what you are doing, which menu options, where are you clicking, etc.

Ok, let me try to guide you a little more here.

when you are trying to open autotune in MC. are you going to FILE>OPEN and browsing for Autotune? are you double clicking on the autotune icon on the desktop? Are you trying to insert it as an FX from the FX bin?

I need to know EXACTLY how you are trying to open autotune in MC.

RE: having problems with autotune 2008/11/25 12:44:30 (permalink)
    OK! Now we're getting somewhere.

that's not the way you open it in MC. you have to have MC already open. then you have to insert it as an FX in the FX bin of an audio track just like you would any other FX. have you ever inserted an FX into the FX bin? if not, and you don't know how, I strongly encourage you to work thru the tutorials and the getting started guide in the help files.

in the meantime, you need to go to an audio track in MC. I assume you have an audio track which needs some vocals to be corrected, right? load that project, go to that track which has the vocals in it and right click in the FX bin. then choose AUDIO FX>AUTOTUNE (it may be listed in a sub-menu). if it's anywhere to be found, then we'll have to back up and set up MC to know where to find it as a VST and scan it before you can use it.

Ok, I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean.

do you mean you've already scanned for autotune using the VST scanner?
I don't have autotune myself and I've never used it, but it's a VST FX just like any other VST FX, so the basic functionality inside MC is the same as any other.

This is probably a dumb question, but I've never installed a VST plugin before. I downloaded the Gnsap plugin. It appears to be a .dll file. I have no idea where to put it in the Cakewalk folders so that MC will detect it when I open the program. Can anyone help? If there's actually a "VST" folder, I can't find it to save my life.

The VST folder(s) used by MC6T are maintained in Edit > Preferences > File - VST Settings. For more information on VST settngs see http://www.cakewalk.com/D...mp;help=Mixing.30.html

Well, I know where to manage the folders, but I'm not sure where to put the .dll file. I made a Plugins folder and told it to scan that on start up, but still nothing.

VST dlls may be placed in any folder in the VST scan path or in folders below the folders in the scan path.

So I have the gsnap.dll in the VST plugins folder (I'm going through Steam so it's in the Cakewalk folder in Steamapps, but same difference). Restarted MC, click on the FX bin, audio FX - still nowhere to be found. I've rescanned the VST folders as well. Any idea what I'm missing here?
     (thanks for your help, btw)

Don't have any steam bases stuff myself so I can only guess the VST scan path is correct. Check the "Show Excluded" radio button in the Plug-in Manager for "VST Audio Effects", maybe it was put in the excluded list. Is is possible the gsnap.dll is the 64bit version?

It is! Bad? I thought since I'm running Win7 64-bit that's what I needed. I'll dl the 32 and see if that works.

Hmmm...replaced it with the 32-bit, still nothing. I don't see a show excluded option - you mean in the preferences>VST menu?

EDIT: NM - rebooted once again, and there it is! Thanks, I've been fighting with this for weeks - registered just to see if I could get some help, thanks SO much.

32bit DAWs only host 32bit plug-ins regardless of the OS. While I have not tested it, I believe 64bit VST plug-ins will load into 32bit hosts with jBridge. However, the best solution is use the plug-ins designed for the host.

The exclude list is in the Cakewalk Plug-in Manager, not the preferences. Since the dll was replaced, try a VST reset in preferences.

Re: RE: having problems with autotune 2014/07/10 12:36:42 (permalink)
You should point the PLUG IN MANAGER to the exact folder which contains the DLL for the plug you are using.

I have used this to add new plugs and for some reason they tend to end up in some of the other available folder choices. For example they end up in nested folders with several other plugs so...... take a few seconds and look into all the folders available in the "audio plugins available". Some there are direct links and some go to folders with several plugs in them.

You need the 32bit plug. rescan. search for the plug. Open it from inside of MC.

I have run Melodyne from inside MC4 w/o problems.

    Keep us posted.
