OT: Name that song?

Hi All-

There's a commercial here in the US for I think it's Liberty Mutual with a lyric (best I can tell) that starts out "There are better days to lead us where we stand" or some such. I've been Googling this and I think the band is HEM. Does anyone know what the song title is or what album this is on?

Thanks-

-Susan

    Better Days by Hem

The lovely song in the new Liberty Mutual TV ad set at a carnival is called "Better Days." It is not yet available on an album or elsewhere. Hem is still working on the full, final version of the song - 2009 release

When I listened to that - and it is indeed a lovely song - I was immediately reminded of Joni Mitchell's lovely 'Sisotowbell Lane' which you can find on youtube - I think if you liked that HEM song you would enjoy this too....

    Hi-

Thanks, guys! So simple, and yes *lovely* -- that's probably the best word to describe it. It doesn't hurt that Sally Ellyson has a *lovely" voice!

@aj- I'll definitely check out "Sisotowbell Lane" next chance.

    Thanks again-

    Hi Steve-

I watched that, thanks for the link! I felt the same frustration that I couldn't hear the whole song, but apparently it will be available in a few months.

    Thanks-

hee! Every time that ad comes one, it reminds me also of Sisotowbell Lane. Which is kind of a strange, but nice, thing to be reminded of on such a regular basis.

A few months back Liberty (I think it must've been) was running another ad with a similar "message" and mood that reminded me of something, but now I can't remember the ad or what it reminded me of. I don't think it was a Joni song, but it just might've been.... or a Cranberries song...?

Yeppers. There's a current ad that uses a bit of Bowie's Space Oddity with a female singer that sounds quite nice.

A few years ago Kmart had a campaign that used songs from from Nico's first record, Chelsea Girl. I thought I was an aural hallucination until I confirmed that, yep, that's what it was. (They never actually got to her vocal entrance...instead they just looped back around...)

if you can get your music on an advert or film etc... sometimes it's a license to print money.. ask moby with regard to his play album hehe

also the free advert for your music isn't something too bad..

although I get annoyed with a certain advert for errr boots which features a song in the uk and i'm guessing people don't realise the original version is

I usually just do a web search, yahoo, google, on the lyric I'm wondering about. It usually brings it right up.
