Screenshot?

I have searched the forum with the term "Screenshot". I see where plenty of people have used a screenshot to show a visual of a problem. How does one take a screenshot of the trackview, for example? My wife wants to do a painting of the waveforms and we tried to do a printscreen but it doesn't work. What is the easiest way to capture a shot of the trackview and save it?

thanks, Mike

Gadwin Printscreen is a very useful utility for making screenshots. The basic version (which actually has heaps of functionallity) is free.

I use MWSnap. Search for it, it's free and I've used it for years for screen captures to jpg.

Pressing the "Print Screen" button saves whatever is on screen to your clipboard. You can then open up MicroSoft paint which is found in All Program>Accessories Once you open up MicroSoft Paint click Edit and click Paste your screenshot should paste into MS paint

Or if you press Alt-<Prt Scn> you copy only the currently focused window rather than the whole screen.

Most definitely,.....neither did I. This will save me time, now I don't have to crop in a photo editor.

Windows Vista Snipping Tool. If you have Vista.

The Snipping Tool utility in Windows Vista is a better option than the Windows Print Screen method of screen captures. It saves a few steps compared to Print Screen and offers more options than just capturing the screen or the active window.

Check out the SnagIt program from TechSmith.

You can even capture a region, with or without the cursor, and easily send any capture to the clipboard, printer, or a file.

The Gadwin tool as I posted above, gives XP the same functionallity. You can lasso a region and dump it straight to a file. The benefit is no cropping and no need to paste it into MS Paint etc.

Likewise - I've been hitting Ctrl + Prt Sc for years then cropping it.

Saved me a bundle of time
