At the risk of starting something I did not intend.

    Wookie,

Right now Toontracks has an offer: Buy (edit: new only) Superior and geta free EZX (expansion pack) from their EZDrummer line (thes EZX's play in Superior). This offer is only good in December.

Music123.com has a 15% - 30% off sale right now. Don't know if they ship to your side of the pond.

Of course if you have EZDrummer you can upgrade/crossgrade to Superior edit:but that does not get the free EZX .

    HTH.

The coin flipped Superior 2 won , I then I flipped a bit as suggested by ED, and it was still a bit so.........

Superior just arrived, now to find the time, at this time of retail madness, to install it.

Rebate says it's only good in the USA as well...

Do the kit pieces sound better than ezdrummer or basically the same? The ones in ezdrummer...such as the kick don't sound very good.

RE: BFD or Superior 2 2008/12/12 17:12:25 (permalink)
    A couple Superior tips:

Play with the envelope on the kick and floor toms. They're a little flabby out of the box for my taste, but they're intended to be tailored. Shortening up the release on kick and floor toms really makes them sound tighter.

Also don't forget you've got EQ built in, and the standard samples are not EQ'd like they would be in some samplers. They're just as if you'd recorded them straight from the mic. So pull a little 400Hz out of the toms, add a little 2-3KHz to the snare, just like you'd do for a real drum track.

Superior lets you do something that's impossible in the real world, and that is to adjust the amount of bleed between all instruments. I take the kick completely out of the ambient channels and lower the floor toms. This adjustment is not obvious and it took me a while just to find it.

There have been two fix releases for Superior 2. Make sure you get the latest, as it has a nifty little enhancement, the ability to change captions on tracks and busses. (Don't know why they forgot that the first time.) The current release (AFAIK) is 2.0.2

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Thanks Bitflipper for the heads up.

Spotted the 2.0.2 and have that installed.

Still Playing as I only installed it about 16:00GMT.

Thanks again for the information re:EQ etc.

    Cheers
