ORIGINAL: CJaysMusic Its most likely a sub harmonic boost like the BBE sonic maximizer. Cj Ah, me and the Sonic Maximizer broke up long ago. Nice easy Q, but talk about artifacts... very low res--at least the ones I used. One HW and one SW plug-in. You're better off using the presets on quality EQ plug-ins...

ORIGINAL: razor Ah, me and the Sonic Maximizer broke up long ago. LOL razor, same here. It's funny, when the BBE first came out, it was pretty much the competition for the Aphex Aural exciter. Someone decided to use it in a guitar rig and then someone else used it in a mix environment and it caught on. The thing I hate about it is it strips mids completely out. The thing I like about it, if you bring it in on your master bus and run both low and high knobs at 2, it will give you an idea as to whether or not you have a bit too much mid range congestion in your mix. I don't ever process with it, but it will clear mid range congestion or a bit of mud that may be hard to pinpoint, right up for comparisson purposes. But yeah, same here...we broke up in 1991. LOL :)

ORIGINAL: liv4ree I didn't get it. I got an email about the release. I do however have Gliss eq which rocks. Well, I bit the bullet. I read the description of what it does, and looked at the "Introductory Discount" price, and grabbed it. It does a combination of things that are *exactly* what I'm looking for on a track I'm mixing this week, and so far I'm very pleased with its results and sound quality. It's letting me add some "junk" to a mic'd kick, without wrecking the pristine sonics of the recording, in a way that lets the kick sit more comfortably *below* the bass guitar in the frequency spectrum. It's even audible on my near-fields, without the subwoofer - but without causing any phase or resonance issues so far. I've been using a lot of saturation on the kicks and snares on this project, and this gives me a slightly better option for kicks than the combination of plugins I had been using.
