I've never cried...
.. from watching a movie or televised program. There have been a few that did hit a nerve and my eyes watered. I was reminded last night when flipping through channels I landed on John Nash's nobel prize exceptance speach in the movie " A Beautiful Mind". I really got into that movie and his direction in the speach...well it touched me to the core...I could relate. If you missed it or don't remember it....just felt like sharing something special to me. Thank you. I've always believed in numbers and the equations and logics that lead to reason. But after a lifetime of such pursuits, I ask, "What truly is logic?" "Who decides reason?" My quest has taken me through the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional -- and back. And I have made the most important discovery of my career, the most important discovery of my life: It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logic or reasons can be found. I'm only here tonight because of you [wife, Alicia]. You are the reason I am. You are all my reasons. Thank you.

That is a beautiful one. I'm very sentimental, my lower lip starts to twitch quite easily watching movies. Otherwise I don't think I'd watch movies! Emotions are what they're here for The cynicism developed with age does work, though, I'm not a syrup-fan.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

I sorta remember that speech, but it was nice to read it again. That's really special. And there's no shame in crying.

Hi, There are a couple of movies ... that have gotten me. The ending of Blade Runner with Roy's last words and Vangelis' muisc is forever the best in my mind. It says it all. The ending of Ken Russell's film Mahler is the other. His wife left him and didn't care or like the music and he had written the symphony for her! Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet was very well done. A bit emotional but it was trully done from the eyes of teenagers in love, and it was a kleenex special. There are a couple of movies I cried because the dream lived ... Terry Gilliam's Brazil with the ending. It didn't matter. He had already been with the dream and he was in it. David Lean's Dr. Zhivago is probably one of the best tearjerkers of all time. For me, probably because of Julie Christie's eyes! And the director and cinematographer knew how to make it all visible! Nicholas Roeg's Don't Look Now. The ending is gut wrentching and sad. Specially after one of the most sensual and amazing 20 minutes on film between Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie. One goes away thinking where is ... Nicholas Roeg's Walkabout. The ending is sad. But it really tells you how we fear the unknown and how we are afraid much more than we are willing to learn and get away from what we know. (A veritable theme in this board!) (I'll add more as I think of them)
As a wise Guy once stated from his holy chapala ... none of the hits, none of the time ... prevents you from becoming just another turkey in the middle of all the other turkeys!

I cried at the end of "the Dirty Dozen.", Jim Brown was throwing these hand grenades down these airshafts. And Richard Jaeckel and Lee Marvin were sitting on top of this armored personnel carrier, dressed up like Nazis. Trini Lopez, he busted his neck while they were parachuting down behind the Nazi lines, and Richard Jaeckel at the beginning he had on this shiny helmet.

I got to thinking about movies that have very emotionally striking scenes and then I thought about how well even kids can be great actors and do scenes that will bring some tears. Then I asked myself "have I ever been brought to tears of compassion and appreciation while watching a (scene) as a kid or even young adult? If I did I don't recall it. I remember giving mom hugs, I remember love, I remember tears and laughter. But it seems that until I got to a certain age in life I never truly experienced that deep emotion and appreciation for a display of kindness or sadness as intense as before.

I frequently cry my eyes out when watching at home, movies DVD, or tv performances even. In public, I fight to keep my eyes from welling. Even song performances recorded or live, can move me to tears......

I know it doesn't matter but... The only thought I have or have had a few times when I've seen a man cry was wondering what was wrong. I sure don't think it's a sign of weakness or such...just wanted that said. Also that I get very upset when I see anybody crying. It is probably one of the things in life that upset me most. A crazy quirk of mine? Don't know. Just the way it is. I literally start shaking when a woman cries...
