new build

ok I need a lil help, I am building a new pc,
gigabyte ga ep35 ds3L
4 gigs corsiar ram
xfx 7200 video card
500 gig sata hd
IDE DVD/CD burner
now when I power up I get the logo and I can enter the bios, but when I try to boot up the windows xp disk it says" boot disk failure, insert disk and hit enter" I'm stumped.

Gigabyte GA-EP35-SL3
Core 2 duo E8500
4 GIGS OF RAM
Tascam FW-1884
Sonar 8.5pe
Reason 4
Roland XP-60

And they said i couldnt do it...

    You need to set it up in the bios so that your dvd drive is the first boot option.

    you can change it back to the hard drive being first later.

    Also, I STRONGLY recommend adding a second hard drive that is used for the sonar projects-

    ok I have it set to boot first, still same result. I must be missing something. thanks for quick reply. also it's being seen in the bios, so I'm not getting why it's not picking up the disk.

    Hmm, go back into bios maybe and completely disable booting from the hard drive.

    1st boot device - dvd drive
    2nd - disabled
    3rd - disabled, etc.

    Is the xp cd the priginal cd, or a copy of the original or a slipstreamed version or something?

    Im asking beacuse maybe the cd is the problem?

    it's a copy of my original disk, now if I put it in my other pc it pops open. hmmmm I'm so confused never had this problem before

    ya got me. Id have to be hands on with it to see wut up-

    ok i went and bought me a new sata dvd/cd burner, still same problem. im thinking i may have did my cd wrong

    ok im confused as all get out, i have a sata dvd and sata hd i cant get it to boot, do i need to do somethine else since my windows is not sp 2 or 3 ?
