She's The One

Got this mixed by a guy on Gearslutz - not my best song, recording or mix but I guess it's not awful =/ Meh.

Hopefully you guys like it. Flame it as you wish ;)

I like the composition........I think that the guitars sound a little thin.......they need a little fattening out.........but I like the basic sound that you have going on here........snare sounds nice and tight....I can hear the Kick and HH's.........and keybds.......but they too sound a little thin........
your rhythm is nice and tight........and your using the sound spectrum very well and I like that ending.........nice.........

Nice tune, parts well done and good vocal.

I think the use mix approach on a tune like this is the put the rhythm guitars far left and right (you do have a couple tracks of those, right?).
This gives you the center channel for the vocals/drums/bass. The keys and other bits can then be placed in the near left and right.

I only hear tidbits of drums reflecting to the left and right, mostly cymbal on the left... tell your mixer friend there that he needs to spread this out... alot! Except for the guitars during the intro, 90% of the song is sitting right in the middle of my head, and the lead vocal sounds pasted-on, I think because it's fighting with a bunch of other stuff in the center. Sounds like you have plenty of verb and delay on the leas vocal. As Ed mentioned, move the guitar out of the center. I'd also spread the drums out a bit more -- the toms are close to OK, but the kick needs to be pushed a bit more, and the snare just sounds flat in the center there. I'd move it a little L or R and try to add a little dimension like a plate verb or somefin, maybe just a little delay reflection. Hihat's OK where it is, but it'd be nice to get a little more spread on the cymbals. Maybe the encoding is affecting the cymbals too much, not sure. Might consider cleaning up some of the low end to bring the bass way up, try to get some low-mid growl out of it! The piano thingy during the instrumental needs to move out of center as well -- something like 15%L/45%R, or vice verse, depending on where your guitars end up. Once you clear out the center a bit the lead vocal could use a ~2dB boost.

Good tune though. Very commercial, short and to the point.

I'm listening on crappy laptop speakers, so I can't help much on the mix. Probably on good speakers I couldn't either... but I'll say I really like the tune. Draws you in right away! Good playing and singing! Nice job!

I'm on a lap top, so i'm not sure about the mix. The vocals are outstanding, as is the playing.

I think the best thing I liked about this is that your accent came out in your song. (Well, it's an accent to me, of course). I love it! I think it needs more bass too. I listened on myspace, which I know can mess up your mix, but it sounds good.

Very cool tune. On my end the mix could use a little bit more of a low end but everything sits nice. Great guitar work and your vox is excellent. The vocals could come up a bit in the chorus, they get lost at times. The tone of your voice and the guitar riff reminds me alot of GREEN DAY. All in all, a GREAT tune. KUDOS!

Cool... I like it..... reminded me of a couple of the 90's bands that had that close up in your face..recorded in a small room sound.

Listening on ear buds..... to me...sounds like a lot of highs.... not overly so however..... could use more kick & bass up a few db and working together to put the punch in this.

    good song... good recording.

I don't hear any cymbals during the chorus, when they should be at their most insistent.

The kick is a little thick for this type of song... I would use a little more beater sound than front sound.
