Life... Updated with bridge and ending...

Well after my last song I posted on here, "Panic Room", I decided I would do something a little more happy and up beat. Here's my latest project "Life". I'm still stuggling for the right accents during the verses... I'll hopefully come up with something that makes sense. Please feel free to critique good or bad and as always, thanks for listening...

Life

...And everyone have a wonderful and blessed Christmas!

Really nice "easy listening" tune and perfect for a Christmas Eve night. You put together some great sounds here and the mix is outstanding; very clear and crisp. Very nice........

Thanks Durod. My wife and I are working on lyrics now and the title and direction of the song may end up changing. I also may change a section of the music in the coda leading up to the chorus. I appreciate the feedback...

    Joseph,

This is a nice piece! I look forward to hearing it with vocals. One little thing bugs me, though, and that is the the swing on the kick anticipation beats. I think it detracts from the whole vibe of the piece by interrupting the foundational beat. Other than that nit-pick, this sounds fabulous.

Exelent. No critique at all on the bad side. Piano sounds marvelus
how do you get such a great piano sound?

Sounds like a real 8' 6" grand in about a 20 by 30 room with tall
    ceiling

You mentioned a "term" (more happy and upbeat). Well there is
a very thin line between sadness and beuaty.

    your piano work is beauty

ooh we baby love your work!

I agree with all the above. I think this is a great foundation. Can't wait to hear the melody above it.

I like it. If you added a real bass instead of a synth (maybe someone here could track it for you) with a vox track I think it would make for a real "coffee" shop song that's so popular right now. I like your work.

Yes, I'm back ...with minions. Luv, D

Life... Updated with bridge and ending... 2008/12/28 13:26:12 (permalink)
I've updated the song with the near complete version, another verse added and bridge with ending... Didn't want it to be a complicated piece, just simple and happy go lucky kind of stuff...

Gdugan... Thanks, unfortunately, we don't have a mic or audio interface yet. Thanks for the suggestion on the kick. I really like swing on the kick, but I may explore some other avenues on that. Thanks again...

Janet... Thanks so much for taking time to listen! I've got more added, I don't think it's quite completed yet. More sounds will be added depending on the lyrics, I want the music to echo the lyrics...

Jimmyjam... Thanks so much for the kind words bro. I use Reason Pianos Upright Steinway K. I have it saved with a few tweaks I've done to it, but it's really good right out of the box though.

Big D... I appreciate the listen man. As I mentioned above, melody is a long way off with no mic...

Venus... Thanks. I'm looking into getting a bass dedicated software like Chris Hein's Bass by EWQL...

Rockyrose... Thanks my friend. I've learned quite a bit from this board on mixing. I still have a long way to go though...

Rigpa... Thanks for the feedback. I have the updated version posted on soundclick. No vocals yet, as I've stated above...

I really appreciate everyone taking the time to listen...

    Joseph,

This sounds like a 'happy-go-lucky' tune. Very pretty indeed!

It's funny because when I skimmed your initial post, I saw "Panic Room" so I went to your SC page and started that one up, and then went back and was reading what you wrote, "I decided I would do something a little more happy and up beat." And I'm listening to Panic Room and going, ahhhh, this may not be the correct tune?

This was nice and mellow. What made those reverse sounding noises?

Larry... Thanks for listening and your comments...

Robby... Yeah, Panic Room is not quite happy or upbeat. I appreciate the listen. The reverse noises are from Roland Groove Synth, it has a complete reverse drum kit. This synth is pretty bad when it comes to instruments, but doesn't do too bad on the variety of drum kits for the pop and hip hop genres.

Oh my gosh Oh my gosh Oh my gosh

I am Blown away, swepted off my feet, mezmorized
    amazed.

oh no! I've been saved, thats what it is. just when I
thought i'd never hear this kind of quality and taste you
    reveal yourself.

Can I audition for a guitar part? Clean and smooth
    of course.

Jimmyjam... Thanks so much for the kind words

Did you mean "jimmyman"? HUM maybe I should
change to jimmyjam. people did call me that in the past.

gotta another question. Guitar is my main instrument
but I play A "little" piano. No matter how good a "grand"
sound I get using a korg M1 as a controler with spring
action without weyted keys just wont let me feel my playng.

The only real 8' 6'' grand I've played was in college. Oh my
talk about want to make you want to play!

I was hoping to at least get something decent using a spring
action controler but havent yet. makes me play choppy.

A guitar teacher I once had siad the better you get the
more you will rellie on the instrument and feel.

    hope this aint off subject.

    A++++++++ on this tune
    sent you an email.

    please parden my spelling

This works well just as an instrumental. Tho at the acoustic guitar only part drags a bit for me.

This is great jake. I honestly can't think of a single thing to suggest to you. Fantastic job man. Teach me ;)

Actually, I can write a melody for it if you like. Man, I can write a sweet one for this!

Jimmyman... Sorry I screwed that up... it does kind of fit though being a musician and all. Thanks for the feedback man. I sent you an email about guitar parts. But, I feel you about the piano action. I just got my weighted controller earlier this month and boy does it make a difference. With a spring action synth, my fingers tire quickly, but with my weighted contoller, I can play all day and am constantly inspired. Like you said, playing comes more fluidly opposed to being choppy... sure I got used to my spring action controller but, everything fell immediately into place once I got my Fatar. I am seriously contemplating taking guitar lessons. I can play a few chords now but I want to learn it well enough to record sessions. Once again, thanks so much for the comments.

Guitarhacker... Thanks for the listen. I still don't have a mic or audio interface, so no vocals. Other stuff keeps setting me back...

James... My wife and I are working on lyrics, she is eager to sing to it. I agree with you about the guitar verses, I tried to come up with guitar accents to make the verses a little more interesting but came up blank. I could not find the sound I was looking for. I'll investigate that more later, plus I'm looking into getting better guitar software.

egervari... I appreciate the comments bro. And please teach me! I need some guitar lessions. This would be so much better with live acoustic and bass sections... nothing like the real thing. We've got a melody in place, just working on lyrics... I appreciate the offer...

    Thanks again everyone!
