OT Did you know Yo Yo Ma plays sharp?
Well, me neither. Until I started workin on a remix of one his cello meanderins. Yessir, he is one sharp feller. But not in a good way. Course he can play the fool out a that cello n all but still...don't he carry a tuner? Anyways, I love him to death and am gonna try (usin every trick ol Sonar provides) to not ruin his magnum opus. I'll keep ya posted.

Some orchestras tune to a pitch that's a little higher than 440Hz (e.g., 445Hz). Some people feel that this produces a brighter or more alive tone. Perhaps that is what is happening here.

Thanks for that article, nprime. It's very enlightening. And to mose, I've got everything else at 443 right now. That seems to put him "in the pocket".

Interesting... I'll check into it. I just signed up to participate in a global colloaboration with YYM and received the 24bit solo track of his we are all supposed to play to. I'll let you know about the intonation. -D

Many European Orchestras tune to A=442 instead of the A=440 used in the US.

And to ModBod, yea, as is my usual bent I was gonna make him minor instead of major and put him in 4/4 instead of 3/4 maybe havin him play a sixties surf thang. But Yo Yo No Go. Turns out that ol cello cannot be Melodyned worth a dern. I couldn't even get a decent one or two note change in the melody without lots of trouble and artifacts...enlightening to say the least. Still think Melodyne hung the moon but it does have its limitations. It doesn't like my "gravelley" rock voice either. Anywhoo, I've just left him alone...other than cuttin all his slowed down expressiveness so's he'll fit to tempo and am doin a Jazz waltz. We'll see.

Have you gone into detection or definition mode and played with the various parameters ("rough," etc.)? Certain source material needs different detection parameters to be properly editable.
