Anyone getting high latency when transient shaper in the project
Not sure if this issue's been brought up before but anyway,
Whenever I've transient shaper added on a track, i get an incredible delay on any other midi track. Initially I thought my pc couldnt handle but even with 1 audio track (+TS) and 1 midi track I get this problem. besides, the cpu load is only6% or so....
Problem only occurs with project playing and using the keyb. If I stop playback no problem. If I delete TS, problem gone.
I'm running 32bit Sonar in X64 but same problem in XP32, Vista32.
any help is much appreciated.

Win 7 64bit. Sonar 8.5.2 (64b), Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H Intel Q9650, 4 Gig RAM, M-Audio projectmix i/o 300 GB SATA drive + Maxtor 720GB fw/7200rpm, Motu 828 mk2, E-MU Xboard 61, Fostex PM04, Tascam US428 and some older stuff.

TS and TL, besides the 64 programs, have a very high delay (TL is 200 ms). You have to diable them out to play along with the song. No way around it - I checked with tech about this.

Thanks for the reply and info. Thats too bad. would have been great to groove along with a TS processed drum track.
Good to know its not a problem in my setup.

you can print the effect, then archive the track. Work around, but might.

Those plugins are mainly for mastering/mixing; when tracking, they have a lot of delay (unavoidable).

You'll find other plugins that you can use in real time, of this type, from Voxengo, Waves, Stillwell/Schwa, Sonnox, and Digital Fish Phones (* free downloads *), and others, probably.
Search the database at KVR Audio for more info.

Transient Shaper (as far as I understand) isn't targeted at the master bus. It works better on individual percussive instruments. ORIGINAL: AT

There is a way around it with Transient Shaper. You need to disable the "Timbre" controls, which are using linear phase filtering to do their job. Try using another EQ somewhere in the chain if you need to approximate what the Timbre control was doing for you.

Thanks all for replies and suggestions,
tried to disable timbre control, still latency. It's very strange but once the TS is inserted in the project ( in my case an audio drumtrack) all other MIDI tracks get higher latency. If I leave the ts on the audio track but switch it off, still higher latency. Only if I delete the plug in I can play normally.
Will look at some other plug ins to get the same effect..

Arent those mastering and mixing plugins? Yes they are. Transient Shaper (as far as I understand) isn't targeted at the master bus. It works better on individual percussive instruments. It Doesnt matter, if you use them in the mixing stage or mastering stage, the delay doesn't matter. Because your using them in the mixing or mastering stage. Cj

Having the same problem here, it took me some hours of frustration to understand what was going on  Happy that's nothing wrong with my setup though
