Missing .mid files in Rapture XP1/XP2 Install [solved]

Hi all,

A couple of months ago, I bought and installed Rapture on my Vista (32-bit) PC. I got the update to the Rapture engine along with the two expansion packs (XP1/XP2). I noticed that XP1 has sounds built from loops (look for "BT Constructionloops" in the "Drums" folder for Exp. Pack 1). Since there were tempo markings, it wondered if there was a way to hear the intital loop.

Well, after searching around the forum for a bit, it appears that there are indeed some midi files that are supposed to be installed with ExpansionPack 1 which demo these sounds.

See the comment by b-rock in here (you'll have to go down to post #14): http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.asp?m=810258&mpage=1&key=rapture%2Cexpansion%2Cloop󆋮

I went to the locations where they are supposed to be but they're not there.

Can anyone who's relatively recently installed and updated Rapture confirm that these are now indeed missing?

I'm going to guess that these got lost when they combined the XP1 & XP2 into one install.

Do you think that Cakewalk will send these to me? How should I contact them?

Thanks for any help,

--SmokeyJ

EDIT: After contacting them, Cakewalk sent me the midi files via email.

Cakewalk has a tech support email form you can use to send them a message--it takes a few days of waiting for a response. You can also call them--phone numbers are listed in their support pages and in their main contact page.

If I understand you correctly I think I had the same problem when I installed the Rapture expansion packs on vista 32. I ran the installation again as adminstrator and the missing folders showed up. not sure if this will help but give it a try.

right click on the rapture expansion pack .exe installer and run as administrator.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that soon (too late to try tonight).

Do I need to back up any files before installing the expansion pack again? I can't think of anything it will overwrite, but I might be missing something. If anyone knows, please feel free to chime in here.

    Thanks!

i think it will just overwrite whatever the expansion pack created. if it did mess up rapture you would probably have to reinstall it, my guess.

Fearful of messing up by reinstalling, I contact Cakewalk's Tech support, and they emailed me the .mid files within 24 hours.

    Great service!

You'd think it would be easier to just post the files for download so we can all have them?

Everyone already has access to these MIDI files. They are located:

    Programs/Expansion Pack1/Drums

I don't believe these files are in the combined expansion pack installer. Simply install from the XP1 installer and you should have them.
