New Song Featuring Milann laFontaine
He's a very eclectic artist from Belgium. This is a tune of his we collaborated on called "Dwarf Pal". He's an excellent guitarist (he's doing the acoustic work on the track) as well as a writer and singer. I've put up a mix at http://www.myspace.com/doghouserileyhisownself for Milann to listen to. Hope you'll do the same. Happy New Year!!

Now this is something I can seek my teeth into!!! What are you using for the percussion? The sax? The sax sounds really good. Actually all the horns sound REALLY GOOD. What the heck are you using? I love how the sax pans from R to L, is that verb? Man I like dynamic mixes like this; I find them very exciting and totally listenable. Dude, keep this up. Oh, the vocals are freaking awesome too. That break totally caught me off guard too. It works. I'm going to do some more research on Milann. Thoroughly entertained my friend. Keep these coming. I'm friending you on Myspace so I can keep track of you.

Why thankya there, spindlebox, et al. The horns are all from the "First Call Horns" and most of mix uses UAD plugs. Milann is a very talented writer and vocalist. I was honored to write and produce a track for him. Glad you enjoyed it.

That's a real foot-tapper. Great tune, well played and a clean mix. My only crit would be that the piano and guitar seem to sit right on top of each other. Regards, Dan

A true latin flavour that could only have come from Brussels...I'm currently working with some natives from Skegness in Lincolnshire on some original Aboriginal Nose Flute, Skankin' echoes of the Caribbean which is a bit more mainstream than what you've done here I know but it helps me appreciate the amount work you've done a bit more. Leaving all seriousness aside though there is some really deft playing and vox on this and sound all nicely polished coming out of all them discombobulators you must have used. Great stuff as always. I'm kinda of intrigued and wondering if that avatar is an image of Dog 'ouse Riley 'imself.......or not......it won't colour my perception of your sounds none, just that it will let me sleep better not having to wonder anymore is all. And just to return the favour in advance....my avatar isn't representative of me in anyway...it's just a generic ol' Buoy bobbing around in a briny wasteland. edit: Wow that COULD be a metaphor....I'd never thought of that.

Ol pal you sure do...and I much prefer this incarnation than the previous crossing patrol man or whatever he was.... I notice you are still carrying on the health and safety theme of the previous avatar though, you've managed to remind us all to wear a sun block on the first few days at least of entering a warmer climate than we've gotten used to or if there is a significant increase in sunshine hours in our own neighbourhood or indeed we've spent too many consecutive days in the twilight world of the studio, I applaud that kinda of selfless caring for others.

I am particularly enjoying Both ends of Love right now!! My New Years resolution is to behave a bit better.... Why is it whenever one makes a resolution something comes along to test it out right away?

This is so totally pro in all aspects it is almost depressing me (knowing I will never record tracks this well). I listened to a few of tunes on the site and each time I find myself saying “wow, beautifully doneâ€. You have such full, clear, creative and complex productions. Milann has a great voice - it sounds like a natural gift in that it seems like an effortless performance on his part - nice bounce to the tune as well. In The Silence Is Deafening, I find the lead vocal is occasionally overpowered but other than that (and it could be my crappy little speakers), everything sounds great. "Everything" was my fav on the site – again it has your weird twist on it – almost like Fleetwood Mac goes Motown (this is some sort of compliment…don’t take it the wrong way). Great recordings and wonderful productions.

Wow! This is nice! Nice piano playing there too, in addition to all the other comments about the outstanding production and vocals and tune, etc.!

Thanks to all. All the songs on the site except Milann's tune are "re-inventions". That is I take the lead vocal only from an existing song and then "re-melody" it (using my ol pal Mel O'Dyne) and "re-groove" it into a brand new song. In the case of "Both Ends of Love" it started as very beautiful R&B love ballad by my ol pal Jeff Grant in London. Jeff (aka Loveshadow) is also an amazing producer and remixer his ownself and we occasionally swap "musical jokes" with each other. I put him in the relative minor of the original and gave it a reggae feel. Then I cut and spliced his lyrics to make the song (original title "The Wrong End of Love") which was about a relationship breakup into one about transexualism. If you'd like to hear any of the original songs before I got a hold of them you can go to http://ccmixter.org/people/Doghouse and click on the "uses samples from" section to the right of the remixes. Such are the things which occupy my pitiful little brain. Thanks again and glad you enjoyed.
