End of the Line: Remix is UP
This is a new song. It is a full tilt boogie rocker ...with a dark Christian message... you see, I believe we are living in the last days as foretold in God's word. ...the current situation in the middle East was not happening when this was penned. Comments on this song are welcome...as always....enjoy. END OF THE LINE End Of The Line They're shooting in the middle east They're shooting down on Main Street The situations out of control Pretty soon heads will roll. The ground is shaking under our feet Children go to bed with nothing to eat In the land, In the land of plenty I think we're about to find We're coming to the end of the line. We're traveling down the road We're dragging a heavy load. As we strike out on our own Minding everybody's business but our own They say the sky's about to fall Oceans are gonna rise Yes, the wrath of God is coming You can see it in his eyes. I think we're about to find We're coming to the end of the line We're coming to the end of the line, We're running out of time The trumpet's about to call The kingdoms of this earth will fall It's the end of the line SOLO The day of reckoning's coming Soon it will be time to pay For all the things we're done And all the things we say He said, “Unto the least of these, as unto me†No time to run away, no place to flee I think we're about to find We're coming to the end of the line We're coming to the end of the line, We're running out of time The trumpet's about to call The kingdoms of this earth will fall It's the end of the line

Dude, cool song!!! Musically I got a Neil Young & Crazyhorse vibe from this. Great job on the vocals and guitar!! Only nit-picks would be where's the bass?!?! and the drums could use a little spicing up. But it's really I great song - I enjoyed it a lot!! Dave www.soundclick.com/steakbone

The bass could use a bit more volume for a little more 'oomph' that's all. The drums sound pretty good to me. Yer smokin' on that git man!! I'm always impressed with those guitar harmonies. Those leads @ 2:30 remind me of Molly Hatchet. You're in good form with this GH!!!!

Wow--I love to hear you play that guitar! Great song and great tune! I would bring the vox up a little, too, and maybe vary the drums a little bit. Man--you can make that guitar talk!!

Well, that was certainly worth $.99 to put on my Ipod !! Excellent tune Herb with some jam up guitar work. If I would change anything, it would be to put the vocals slightly more up front.

the current situation in the middle East was not happening when this was penned. It was when the bible was though, and on plenty of occasions since, historically it does seem to be a hot spot. I'm not arguing though as I kind of like this lyrically, although I reckon a loving Father's scolding maybe frightening for the chaotic children, but beyond that is the powerful message of love and guidance which will benefit them in the long run, which is the part I'm not getting here and it kinda makes it bleak, maybe the intention you had though as it works as a wake-up call. Musically I'm sort of agreeing with Dave, here as if I saw this band I'd prolly come out of the venue saying the vocalist / lead guitarist is too good for 'em. So Herb, you'll either have to learn to play and sing badly or shake these guys up a bit to bring 'em up to your own high standard here. Just my first impression FWIW, I like the idea and the song though. edit: Does the newest avatar indicate you are soon to change your nick to 'Guitaardvark'...

hey herb is this my first feedback on your stuff? i think so my crits would be as far as sound mix and quality compared to what? compared to your other stuff its great as usual. does your other stuff sound not so great? no it sounds good. so whats up? its "tweeking" how far does one go with tweeking? I'm sure you'll get comments such as bass drums and vox. and too much vox verb (maybe) the problem? If it sounds like theres no crispness on my roland digital moniters then there defnatly is a crispness problem. These moniters are kinda weird in a way they can be boomy and bright all at the same time. so they arent one or the other but they sure will let you know what is or aint. not saying they are "genelics" by any stretch. but for the money I love em. I use 7 differrent sets of moniters but the rolands are the refernce. played this tune on my sony tower speakers and sounded much better. Why? more mid deffenition. Put on my akg 240 cans which are also bright and had the same lack of crispness as my rolands. vox are too far back as well as other stuff too in "perceived" hearing. I dont think its level as much as needing some "crisp" I would blame what i hear on my age but my refernce stuff dont lack crisp. this song is one of your best if not the best. your best vox for sure. thumbs up in all regards. so why would i critique it like i do? a little touch of this and that would breath life, color and so many other things into an allready warm and absolutley nicely played and mixed song. If i could use only "three words" I'd have to say "great job man" jimmy

Larry.... Ok if 2 people agree... I'll remix with more bass...for some more umphhh. Janet.... I wanted to keep the vox lower in the mix since rox vox tend to set lower than country.... I'll bump them a db or two while i'm at it.... Duane..... thanks.... I'll send you a new mP3 after the update. Jonbouy..... the message was intended to be a wake up call as opposed to a message of love ..... just a different point of view. On the avatar... nope..the aardvark will go away soon.... that's next on my list. Jimmy.....so it needs some crispness...I'll see what I can do in the remix I'll probably try the remix tomorrow.... thanks all for listening.

Herb, "full tilt boogie rocker"...that's a really good description. Great guitars throughout, as usual. I'd like to hear your vocal a bit more up front as well, with maybe a little boost in the mids. The drums were okay, but could use some change-ups now and then. Cool song. Regards, Dan

I love this tune, Herb. Great driving energy to open, and I really dig the two harmony guitars working together throughout the vox. The lead work is ingenious and inventive, sounds like you brought Dickey Betts in to help out. Pretty good mix but I agree that the bass could come forward a little, and on my phones the vox could use a small boost. Topnotch guitar playing, though, outstanding! Mark

OK I have a new version ready to go.... but I can't log on to SC at the moment... But as soon as I can I'll post and let you know. here's the fixes. 1. Bounced bass to audio and ran it up to just below clipping 2. Increased Vox levels to just below clipping. 3. Flattened a mid freq dip and boosted highs a few db.... lows about +1db up also. 4. Increased low band compression just a tad. Exported..checked it.....now.....just waiting on soundclick to get their servers back on. Thanks for the advice.

hey herb remarkable improvment. bass? sounds much better. use more passing notes going from one measure to another. but not too much so the listener cant predict the bass playing. vox also better. sits in the mix better. use multi comp and center one band at 2k comp it to about a 3 db compression Knee at about 9 ratio at about 3 to 6 attack about 4 do the same at 4 to 5K center. of coures use not much width because 2k and 5k are so close. then adjust the levels of the 2 bands to taste so there will a "contsant" cleanlyness in vox great job. I didnt put on my cans for this one because it sounds good on my moniters so no need to double check jimmy

Yo Herb, Cool number all the way around. I really like the interplay of the guitars- I hear as much Marshall-Tucker as Allman Bro. Great bass line- it really drives the tune. The drums are subdued giving it a live and/or garage feel- as though recorded with two centered mics. Fine with me, I never liked big (80's) drums, anyway. Cheers, Bert

Song and performance are great. Intro and guitars are great. Lead vox is buried and boxy ... probably easy to fix: Vox needs a bit more presence (4K 5K+) and slight (tape) upper-harmonics saturation or something. Methinks, he's masked currently (whole song) and needs more authority as the vox must be the dominant (not the guitars). The mix is kinda dull and jumbled, Herb? Are you waiting for a mastering house to increase the lows and highs? I feel a bass-line but its also boxy ... unless thats the kick? Lyrics themselves are apocolyptic but not gospel ( Fall Down is gospel) ... IOWs, there's nothing bold here about Christ's death, burial, nor resurrection ... to save wretched sinners like me. (Ah the Charismatics would correct me ... that I'm no longer a sin-proned wretch ... whhew boy ) Hence, this song rocks, but, myself being a gospel-fanatic, its not super-great, for my ears. Yet, its great and refreshing as is. (Respectfully, the doom-and-gloom professors of Revelation only got me seriously interested in world-religions ... they got me soul-searching and mystical about Christ's (doubtless) soon coming ... but my soul only experienced Salvation after the gospel quickened me ... 4 years later!) As always, sir, I'm an exceeding great fan of your works!

hey herb, cool tune, loved the guitars , the bass is kinda killin the kick. I can`t hear the drums too clearly (but like you said earlier your a guitar player and let jamstix do the work, so i`ll blame that on jamstix LOL) Not much for the lyrics, reminds me of the crazies downtown on there bikes with the banners strapped to them that say"REPENT THE WORLD ENDS TOMORROW" but that would be a totally different forum and subject matter LOL
Whoa.... to you ...oh...earth and sea... for the devil sends the beast with wrath..... because he knows the time is short..... let him who hath understanding..... reckon the number of the beast..... for it is a human number... it`s number is..... 666 So if JESUS rose from the DEAD Does that mean he`s the ORIGINAL ZOMBIE?

A GREAT BIG THANKS to all who listened and commented and assisted in the crits to get this to this point. This song was a fun song to write & (of course) play. A few commemted about the words and message. Thank you for listening too. I did not really set out to write a "gospel song" per say with the usual message. I decided to write this from a different perspective... a DARKER point of view as it were. As I look at the TV and the news, I see all around us the condition of the world and society in general deteriorating, just as is predicted will happen. From the wars to street crime, to the earthquakes, and children going hungry , even here in America. To the fact that our government can't keep it's nose out of other people's business, while our own country is "burning", and at some point, we will have to pay fro these things....one way or another.... I just happen to believe Jesus will be doing the judging. Didn't intent to rant... thanks again for listening. Now... I think I'll start writing another..... this song BTW is the first new song I've written in quite a few years... it feels good to start writing and have the first new one out of the studio sound like this.

Hello Herb.....this is a merciless driving rocker. That intro was amazing. Your vox need to come forward and with a bit of presence. They sound good but those intense lyrics are going unfelt. Bass has already been brought up but i think the kick could come up also. Scary song. It is very frightening what's going on over there.

Nice guitarwork and song:) I find the bottom a bit muddy. I want it more punchy down there. Maybe lower the guitar just a bit. And play with the EQ to make the vocals sit better with the "guitarrwall" in the mix :) Overall; good one:) Cheers
