Edirol ua-25 disappeared from Sonar 3.1.1 MIDI input and output

I have been experiencing many different problems with my Edirol UA-25 interface. The latest is it no longer shows up in the midi inputs and output in Sonar 3.1.1. I have downloaded the latest divers and followed the installation instruction precisely. I also downloader ‘CleansAll’ recommended by Roland to remove the old driver. I have tried reinstalling the original driver, still no go. I have experienced several different problems over the last week. Before this problem, I could not direct monitor (or indirectly through the output jack in the back) my project. I could input both audio and midi data through the UA-25, but couldn’t hear it. I found some info on the ‘fixya forum’ that showed how to configure the switches. I followed their lead and magically everything was working perfectly. The next time I booted up, Edirol disappeared from Sonar. So, I started the reinstallation of drivers that I referred to earlier. I also reinstalled Sonar. No luck. I have two machines and the problems are always exactly the same on either one.
My setup:
Sonar 3.1.1
UA-25 switches:
Advanced -> off
sample rate -> 44.1
limiter -> off
phantom rate +48V -> off
Play/Rec -> Play
Digital in -> off

    Change your Advance switch to ON and It'll work again. Remember to always disconnect it before you change the switches. As you've set it up you're just using standard drivers. It's all in the owners manual by the way ...

    Thanks Ludvig,
    When I get home I'll try this out. I found a user manual online and I will use it. I think many of the problems have been related to not unplugging the unit and changing the switches expecting that to make a difference. As well as not understanding the switches. Plus, it may be time to do a clean install with my OS.
    Thanks again,
    Graham

    a friend of mine was using one and it really didn't get along well with ANY other audio or media devices at all... soundblaster, webcam, mp3 player, any of that stuff. once we disabled EVERYTHING it was fine.

    I have had a couple of trouble free days. The combination of suggestion seems to work. Thanks you guys!
