They'll probably start charging after a year. If it becomes part of your workflow you'll be likely to pay.

This can very easily translate into actual sales. With a 30 day demo, you only have time to dink around with the software and get a feel for what it does. If you have a 365 day demo...you have the feeling that the software is "yours" (it's NOT, by the way), and you feel a lot freer to use it in projects that you care about...instead of just messing with it. They are counting on two things...1) that you'll get hooked on it and "have" to go ahead and purchase it after the trial is up and you're already fully committed...and 2) that their authentication scheme is sufficiently robust that you can't crack it easily. I think it's an interesting business model. (Note that I don't find it interesting enough that I'll actually download it.)

Yeah I think it's brilliant, there's so much stuff out there now competing with each other that the old 30 day demo is just not enough to truly make a good judgment on software. This is a good thing. What is a bad thing is this is the EXACT TYPE OF THREAD I would like to KEEP in the SONAR Producer forum. If I had missed it because it was hidden in another forum I would have been pissed off. We spend so much time helping and conversing in the SONAR forum that forget trying to pay attention to other forums. If it's important enough it should just stay where it is. Back to GTR, why don't they post some real demo samples of the sound? You have to go to GTR3 but those may have changed and even the player there doesn't really let you select AC30 sim or Blackface sim to hear what they sound like. You click on Sample 1: Groovy (eg only) and it then plays and lists what was used to make the sound. bad web marketing there. Thanks for bringing this to the attention of Cakewalk users noah.

Having trouble getting the download. I enter my id and password, but when I click on download for pc, I keep getting a popup that says I must login before I can download. Anyone else having a problem?

Are you using Firefox or IE? Maybe they're session script isn't working right in one. try the other or shut the browser down and re-login.

Yeah - I got the email from Waves on this... it is a smart move that could turn into sales - but it is one year, revenues may not come for a while. What I wonder is how the license activation works - i.e if you do a clean format can the same license be used again - the site is spotty for that info.
There are numerous ways I emulate guitar... I do dig the Guitar Rig LE that comes with Sonar! I also use iZotope's Trash ALOT! amazing plug. I also use a chain of plugs as well to create a good amp sound. the Cab is the hardest part.

Seems risky to me. In one year who knows what competition will exist that is better than this product. In the meantime, you are missing a year of revenue for a product that will become obsolete. yes, had a couple times where it wanted my log in and then sent me to the start all over again... had to hit the 'back' button a couple of times after loggin in to fix this and actually get the download. i have not found a software amp sim that i actually like, so thx to the original poster for offering this one, i hope it is good.
