No sound from U-control

Hello,

I'm using a Behringer U-Control UCA202 with Sonar 7 PE. Sonar is recognizing the device, but there is no sound running through Sonar when the U-Control is configured (No input or output). Check out my Audio Settings

I disabled the on board Realtek sound card, and I installed the latest driver from Behringer. Other programs (Windows Media Player) are able to use the U-Control as an output device, so the problem seems to be at Sonar.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    joemichael,

I don't use asio4all with my uca202 so I 'm not sure how it should setup that way. I see on the advanced tab that your Record Latency Device is Asio4all while on the Device tab the drivers checked are the Behringer USB audio in and out? Not sure if this is an issue or not? Good luck, I find that my uca 202 is a lot easier to drag over to a friends house than unplugging my rack.

Yes, I noticed that myself. Every time I change the record latency to Behringer, it automatically goes back to asio the next time I open the audio options.

This is driving me crazy... I just want to get back onto recording!

Have you tried the Behringer ASIO driver?

From a user review on amazon.com:

"The UCA202 has a headphone jack with a volume control so you can monitor what's being recorded to your computer, as you record it. Just be aware that you won't be able to listen to the playback from your audio recording software through your computer's monitor speakers unless you unplug this device from your USB port first, and there is no warning about this in the manual, which is why the 4 star review instead of 5. On some review sites there seemed to be confusion about what drivers were required to work with this device, but the first page of the manual states clearly that you don't need any drivers. I am running Windows XP and was able to just plug and play, no drivers needed, audio is loud and clear. By the way this is not a paid endorsement or anything, I just wanted to spare someone else a lot of the research time that I spent by saying, go ahead and get it. "

Maybe this is the source of your problem?

Thanks for the help, but I read that review and was aware of that. I'm not able to record anything through the interface, nor do I hear anything through the interface. The master track in Sonar isn't even sending a signal when the UCA202 is configured. I'm stumped.

Ok, step back and take a swig of what ever you have in house. Then, go into options/audio and list the settings and do the same for the advanced menu also.
When thats done, you need to list your outputs for the tracks and master.
Do this and well see what your doing wrongCj

Okay, here's screenshots of the current audio settings:

The outputs for the tracks are going to master, and the master output is the Behringer.

Now when I press play, I get a popping noise. When I increase the latency, I can hear a few milliseconds of audio. Then the audio stops, and I get the "dropout" warning. The project is basic and does not require much memory. The same thing happens when I try to record. Also, the "run/stop audio engine" button is in the off position, and I cant turn it on.

Ok. thats really nice for you to post these things. It takes the guessing out of it.
Heres what is see wrong. In the Behribger audio driver menu, its set to 16bit, change it to 24bit and restart sonar.
also, disable the read and write cache'ing in sonar's advanced menu.
also, click the asio tab in the behringer audio driver menu and see what the buffers are set to. Try 128, 256, 512, and 1024. (note, this is not a sonar buffer for the I/O's)
Try these and report back (with the good news..)

EDIT: Forgot. what plugins are in your project

-In the Behringer audio driver menu, the default is 16 bit, and It cant be changed. (It's a 16bit interface)
-I disabled the read and write cache
-I experimented with several different buffer sizes
-I tried several projects, and even created a new one with no plugins, but still no luck.

    I appreciate your help.

Multi-processing engine has been an issue for some.

Behringer has a newer driver available 2.8.17.

On my setup (XP, old, slow) I use 512 for the playback buffer, no cache.

Return it. 24bits is a must in todays recording. for now youll need to change soanr to 16bits in the general menu then

Even when I switched everything in Sonar to 16 bits, it had the same problem. I assumed the UCA202 would be better than my Realtek sound card, but I guess I was wrong. I will take your advice and return this piece of crap and buy a "real" interface that will run on 24 bits. Thanks for the help.
