What happened to "yep" ?

I don't see any of his posts anymore. He was very helpful and intelligent. I hope it's just a brief hiatus.

He probably got tired of the same old questions, and the people who are so fundamentally ignorant (and apparently unable to educate themselves) that they couldn't even understand the answers.

    ...just guessing.

He was the guy who could answer the really deep technical questions with the aplomb of a seasoned industry professional. Sadly, this is really no longer the place for someone like that.

Wouldn't have been funny, if you were to have listed a hundred other threads where people had already solved the "where is yep" mystery.

Maybe they tried to transport him to the Coffee House, and a the matter/anti-matter convertor accidentally sent him somewhere else.

Yep's extended absence seems to have coincided with the end of the Boston Red Sox season. I hope he didn't do something rash.

Yep's last post, back in September:

I don't think we quit living when we are told that the game is over, I think we quit living when we are dead, if that.

Have no fear, yep is alive and well over on the Reaper forum.

Great, now what about others that were an integral part of the Coffee House and provided lots of help to those who frequented this place? For example, where's the guitar teacher Jamester? I've seen him occasionally at KVR but mostly just in the Reaper threads.

Prior to the Coffee House "ugliness" that actually lasted rather briefly, there were quite a few members who posted very interesting threads that were fun to participate in as well as often being educational. Even for us "know-it-alls".

yeah it's unfortunate that a couple trolls were able to get the coffeehouse shut down. a lot of great people left with it. a lot of really pro-level stuff in the songs forum too, no offense to the current group intended.

I haven't been in the songs forum for a while but from what I heard the last time I did, I'd have to agree with your assessment. However, considering some of the stuff M, Ed and those guys were posting once upon a time on a regular basis, at least in the current situation one might not be as discouraged from actually participating and having to compete with them.

yeah no kidding =) took a lot of bravery to put my first song up there... but i also got some invaluable feedback every time. not so much anymore. to each their own i guess but i'd rather get a serious critique than applause for showing up... again, no offense intended to current songs forum people...

Yeah, the fact that "normal" people can turn out really good stuff can be helpful and indeed inspirational in more ways than one, but sometimes one still can't help but get miffed at what gives them the right to devote themselves to their music so and then have to continually post it for us all to hear...

I'm always happy to give you a serious critique over at Songs. Trouble is, I might like the song, then I'd have to annoy you by applauding..

See Beagle's post above. Yep still lurks here; every few months someone posts a "what happened to yep" thread, and he posts back by the end of the day. But I think he's mostly abandoned us for the Reaper forums.

the best of both worlds then despite my opinions on the songs forum, it hasn't stopped me from posting songs... i just need to get some together to put up there. it's been a rough last few months for me...

You are quite right. The current crop of Song Forum regulars are all a pretty decent group of people who support and help each other out, and, unlike many of the other forums where most of you lot hang out, know how to leave their egos and bad attitudes at the door. We are trying to clean it up and get more arses in there, but its a slow process, as we are too busy having fun and making music.

Maybe if some of the old timers would put a check on their attitudes the whole CW forum would be welcome and inviting to everybody, instead of the personal playground for a few of you who apparently have little else in the way of lives other than yelling at each other or patting each other on the back for trashing yet another "troll". From my perspective, a lot of you people are the real trolls as you contribute little in the way of meaningful input for the people who actually use the product and not just sit and talk about it.

    No offense intended of course.

this is the only forum i hang out in. if you all want to say "great song" to every post, i don't have a problem with that. it just doesn't do it for me. the old crew did. that's all i'm saying. and yet i still get into the songs forum from time to time and comment on songs i happen to like, spending time to give the person the best critique i'm capable of in two or three listens.

was this supposed to be an example of the kind of welcome and inviting atmosphere you are trying to provide?
