Anyone using Guru?

Is anyone here using Guru? It looks good but I am wondering if you can only do electronic music on it or if you can program rock beats on it as well. That is my main initial reservation about it.

I would be grateful to hear any feedback on it.

I use Guru for rock stuff. What I like to do is load a rex file into into it and then rearrange the loops using the step sequencer. it works well and is a pretty quick way for arrange beats.

I use Guru alot however if you are primarily interested in acoustic beats i would be looking for something else. There is some very good content included, its step sequencer is realy handy but but I have always found it was limited in acoustic kits/hits.

It is a fantastic program but I'd be looking at EZdrummer or BFD instead.

If Guru was absolutely a solution for acoustic drums than FXpansion wouldn't need BFD.

    Gmon72 and StuH,

Thanks a lot for your replies.

I am grateful for your feedback. The rock beats I like are very tight and not very free flowing so Guru could still work for me. However maybe using Guru and something like Ezdrummer as well is the way to go. EZ drummer is very cheap now so buying both would not break the bank.

Ya for tight beats Guru would work really well as a matter of fact. Would be just a matter of supplimenting guru with a rex library or something. For what you describe, it would work very well. Also real cool for experimental type stuff.
