Moving posts? Why not also move the forums altogether.

For all the concern with moving posts and forum organization and management, you'd think they might consider getting better forum software to run the thing. This ASPPlayground.NET stuff they're running is really not very nice. It works (for the most part), but that's about the only good thing you can say about it. It looks awful and ancient and makes a dowdy impression.

Check out the XLN or the Line 6 or the Reaper forums. Those look like the forums of modern software companies.

The interface is the experience.

personally I like this forum software better than any of the forums I frequent. it's clean, it's fast, it functions. the others that LOOK better are slower and are prone to page loading errors and I'd rather have clean and fast.

I like vBulletin best of all the forums I visit.

The forum is functional, and obviously successful, if traffic is any indication of utility.

There's a few things that would make like here ideal -- the ability to post images directly, a file repository for templates, setups, presets, etc., better integration of private with public messaging, etc. -- but on the whole this forum does the job while requiring a minimum of effort to administer. It's a devil we all know.

It makes little sense from a management perspective, to change this particular aspect of Sonar life and this crucial time in Sonar's development. Let's finish this process of shoring up Sonar before making cosmetic changes to the periphery. It's job 1 for this company with limited resources.

But, when job 1 is well on its way to completion, I'd love to see the forum grow into a larger support area, with knowledge base, wiki, supplimentary docs and tutorials, access to support, problem tracking, etc. etc.
