Anyone Using Line 6 Gearbox Plug-In?

Hey guys and Girls ...

Been trying to get the Line 6 Gearbox plug-in to work with Sonar Power Studio 660 and I don't have any more hair left to tear out :( Was wondering if anyone has successfully managed to get this to work. I can load the VST interface but I get nothing from my Toneport GX at all.

Lots of people here have the GearBox Gold / TonePort DI combo from when they were getting blown out cheap. I use the plugin but haven't had the need yet to try the TonePort. Check all the usual audio settings that it is properly selected as the audio out for Sonar. If you are using it with another audio interface you need to use WDM drivers because with ASIO Sonar only allows one card at a time.

MarlboroMan-Thats very interesting.I have the Silver version but I have not used it yet.

I use an Audio Echo firewire interface with Asio drivers.

So what should I do exactly to use WDM drivers. I always use ASIO full stop. I am glad that I noticed this post. Can I just install the software and ignore the box.Just plug into my audio echo firewire interface?

You only need to switch to WDM drivers if you are trying to use both interfaces at the same time. To switch drivers do this through the audio options.

You do have to have the Line6 box installed and connected to act as a copy protection dongle for the GearBox software to run, or if you are going to use the ToneDirect Monitoring function. With the box connected you can then use the GearBox VST plugin during mixing tracks recorded and played back with any audio interface.

MarlboroMan23-Thanks for clarifying that for me.

Well I will just use the box as a "Dongle" and will use my Echo Audio interface as normal.
However it was good to know that information. Thanks

Been playing with this all weekend and still no joy.

Sonar 660 defaults to the WDM driver on installation, so I was already using that. I read in the Line 6 help file that Cakewalk should be running in 24bit mode for the sound to work. If I change the option in the driver to 24bit it reverts back to 16bit when I exit the driver configuration. I'm lost :(

It may not make any difference but you may need to set Sonar to 24bit as well as the 660's WDM driver? Also try toggling the 64bit mix engine on or off to see if it makes any difference.

Does Sonar allow you to select the Toneport GX as an Input or Output?

Also just noticed this in the Top section of the SONAR Producer and Studio forum:
High Latency or Failure to Open 24 bit Device in WDM in 8.0.1

    Good Luck
