Help tuning a theremin.

The theramin, like the thrumquattle and the spinatikis, is extremely sensitive to its environment (so much so that the thrumquattle is considered endangered in most of its former range and can now be found only in the upper registers). If you have been storing your theramin in a dry cool place, there is little reason to think that your tuning problem is due to swelling of the electromagnetic field as is so commonly seen in swamps and bogs. Most likely, given your long experience with exotic intruments, your technique can not be at fault either. I suspect that your problem may be a wardrobe failure. One factor often overlooked by modern theraministers, but evident in the classical photograph below, is the necessity for wearing a bow tie. Not simply a sign of classical taste, the bow tie actually interacts with the theramin's EM field (and sense of style) to stabilize the tuning. I suspect you may be trying to play your instrument while wearing a bolo, with predictably erratic results.

BTW I notice you never see thrumquattles or spinatiki (plural) on ebay nowadays but for theremin virtuosity, you cant beat this
