best operation system

I have not been on this site for quite some time and need to ask a question. For home studio 2004 with an older HP is xp home version vs xp pro better to use? The home version crashes and some systems don't operate right? If I plan on using this software I would like to know its going to work right.

XP pro is always the way to go if you have it.

The major difference between Home and Pro is control over the system from an administrators point of view for security of the system. The core functions are the same and in fact a lot of the control that is available from Pro directly is also available from Home but in Safe mode only.

If you have several computers networked together then go with Pro, if you're just using it as a single computer OS then I'd save the dough and go with Home, unless you like the kudos of saying 'I run XP Pro'. Performance wise there's no difference.
