Dell Studio 17 and 1394 port

I'm considering the purchase of a Dell Studio 17 laptop (Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T6400, 3GB RAM etc..) and I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any issues with the firewire port? I'd like to continue using my MOTU 828 mkll.

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up. What chipset and what maker should I be looking at?

at this point almost NO laptop has firewire
of those that do they are jmicon or Ricoh.

there are very very few laptops that work for audio that are NEW.

    google "pro audio laptop"

Scott forgot to point out that it's the Texas Instruments (TI) chipset that is the favoured one.

Looks like you may have to acquire a nice USB2 interface.
