I put in the number on the envelope I pulled the CD out of! Shouldn't that be the right number?

That's probably the Guitar rig 3 LE serial. I seem to remember that they put the GR S/N on the CD. Look around all of the packaging; I think it may be on a yellow label.

Yours comes with 2 serial numbers 1 Guitar Rig 2 Dimension Pr a CWDM serial When you purchased Sonar Producer they should have emailed you the Serial Number if you did not received it you will have to call technical support to have it re emailed to you. I went through this debacle myself Zen

Go online to the Cakewalk Store. Login and your serial number is in your account. As things currently stand Cakewalk does not ship serial numbers. The serial number on the yellow sticker is for Dimension Pro.

I'll chime in....I've entered the serial #'s incorrectly before. So, I will only suggest to make sure that you don't mistake a '0' for an 'O' or a 'Z' for a '2'. I've have made this error more than once but maybe most here can see very small much better than myself. Hope that helps.

The serial number that came on the packaging for my copy of Producer 8.0 didn't work when I tried to register it. Cakewalk told me it had already been registered to someone else! They allocated me a new serial number, which worked fine. I have just had to reinstall Windows, and now I have SONAR back on the PC it is trying to get me to register the old, wrong, serial number. It is greyed out and cannot be changed. Unfortunately I cannot remember how they told me to change the serial number. I have been firing off support requests via the Cakewalk website for 1 month now, and still haven't received a reply apart from the auto-confirm emails. After many phone calls I have yet to speak to a human being. In 5 days my copy of SONAR will stop working and my commercial studio will grind to a halt unless I either: 1) finally receive a reply from Cakewalk telling me how to fix this. 2) buy SONAR X1 (which I had been considering beforehand) 3) say "to hell with Cakewalk and their non-existent support" and change to one of their rivals. I am still undecided..................

Beagle 4) man up and call them. Geez, you obviously missed where he said: After many phone calls I have yet to speak to a human being. To holyflamingsmoke- If I were you, I'd start my own thread, either here or in the CW store forum (you can just copy and paste your post from here). "Piggybacking" on someone else's post will usually not get you a lot of attention -- in fact, it's generally frowned upon (known as hijacking a thread). If you're lucky, one of the mods or employees will catch it and respond. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice JT, and apologies if I hijacked the thread - I am new to forums. I purchased through the UK distributor, not the E-Store, so I didn't think that was the appropriate forum. I will start my own thread instead, so sorry again.

This isn't the only software with authorisation problems - I recently bought my wife a laptop which came pre-loaded with a cut down version of MS Office. When I tied to get it activated, it repeatedly tells me it's the wrong Activation Code, and yet I lifted it straight off the sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

You're right and I was being too harsh, my apologies. his rant sounded to me like he hadn't really tried to contact them hard enough, but maybe he has. I'm not sure why he would call them many times without talking to someone, tho, unless he's impatient and don't wait in the queue. holyflaming - being in the UK I think you can contact your roland distributor for serial number issues as well.
