Profile photo uploader issue!

Here's an issue I've encountered in the profile controls...

I have attempted uploading a profile picture that is 145 X 145 10kb jpg as required and I am told the file is too big. I try a different photo with the same requirements... same end result.

Why then can I not upload a profile picture?

It's a PITA. I kept shrinking - shrinking - shrinking mine (untill I felt like the wicked witch of the west) - untill it was small enough. And (TO THIS DAY) I wonder how my fellow forum folks have images that are bigger than mine. Guess I have avatar size envy! : ) : )

Bottom line, keep shrinking; it will accept it eventually when it is small enough.

    LMFAO @ Avatar envy!

If I shrink it anymore then I have, I'll need to buy a larger monitor just to see it!

Seriously... who is the Webmaster in here?

instead of making the size smaller, try increasing the compression if it's a JPG or reducing colors if it's a GIF. there are no webmasters here, only mods, and they will probably suggest that you get a bigger monitor or a pair of reading glasses if your avatar is dimensionally challenged.

I fixed it. I used my Photobucket account and shrunk it to 140 X 140.

The limits are 145 x 145 pixels but the file size must also be less than 10KB (9.5 is more realistic though)

I find the quickest way to get down to the right size is to open the image (.jpeg or .gif) in Paint.net

Resize it to 145 x 145 and click Save - there's a 'Quality' slider that allows you to set the file size, once you're down around 9.5KB click OK

The beauty is you don't have to shrink your image's dimensions down below 145 x 145!
