First - I think yoe is wrong and should not be using warez software of any kind.

Second - He's worse for flaunting it and basically daring anyone to say he's wrong (in the locked thread)

Third - I do not think that posting his information here is the correct way to handle it REGARDLESS of the fact that it's available on his website. Basically you're trying to get people to harass him and that's not a socially acceptable way to handle him even if he were harassing anyone here.

cakewalk locked the thread. they might have chosen to warn yoe or they might have even chosen to ban him. that's their decision - it's not anyone else's responsibility to take matters into their own hands by harassing him regardless of whether his information is public or not.

Thomas,

If you're wrong, then you just published a name, address, and phone number of some anonymous person in a public forum. How responsible is that?

Why not remove it now, before any unintended consequences arise from this?

I think CW is fully aware of this poster in question. Let them handle it. We do not need to be involved at all. I see no problem expressing how we may feel about this but I think we should stop short of listing any info about him. I agree that that is not cool at all putting his personal info up. It should be removed.

He won't register his software, but he does his website..

So you are assuming that someone who is so unethical that he uses cracked software, and is such a troll that he comes on here to actually taunt us about it, is going to be honest and use his real personal information in his profile? Could be he did this just to jack some other innocent third party up along with the rest if us?

Just sayin'

Best thing to do in my opinion is just assume that everything associated with his profile and posts is just fantasy unless proven otherwise. This is cyberland after all, where everyone can be whatever they say they are.

Funny I was thinking that you were the holier than thou type since you judged and hanged someone without any real proof and you don't even work for Cakewalk.

The truly sad part is that for that guy's purposes, a $60 copy of Samplitude Music Studio would probably have sufficed.

Yep sure would have........
But he would not have got the pops and crackles and bugs some folks
get with $300.00 worth of SPE 8.....
Not me though, running sweet as a nut.

I can see that the information there in yoe's profile is someone's real information. I guess I'm just not privy to the proof that allowed someone to conclude that the real information actually belonged to the person that posted it to the profile and discussions in the forum. I assume that there was communication with the yoe yoe outside of the two recent threads where the proof was provided.

Well said. +1

I suggest CW adds a Report Piracy (just a basic Email form) on their main site so if anyone spots piracy either here or elsewhere then simply report it and let CW handle it. Issues like this are best kept off the forums for the sake of keeping the peace and keeping this forum from sinking into a low, as Beagle said.. let CW handle it so we can continue to focus on keeping this site the #1 peer to peer support forum that includes a great pool of information.

IMHO this thread should be locked.

If you were talking about my post where I said that two wrongs do not make a right, that was my personal opinion. I don't think it is cool that anyone posts someone's name address and number on an internet forum. I don't care if they pirated your favorite software (Sonar). To me that is just wrong (even if that info was in his user info)--it's almost an invitation to do something bad to him. So,I said two wrongs don't make a......blah blah blah
It must not be too bad though since the mods have not removed this thread (I am really surprised).

As you can clearly see, I removed the address roughly four hours after posting it. I never judged him other than to use the word "idiot" in the thread's subject. Do you have a quote of mine where I judged this guy? How did I hang him? That is completely false. I may have put up the "Wanted" poster, but how the he77 did I hang him? Who is making the assumptions here?

To hopefully clear the air around my post.. I was offended by Yoe's audaciousness. He was taunting and insulting other users with an arrogance that I have yet to see on this normally gentle forum. My motive was basically to expose him, because it is my opinion that it is more challenging to be arrogant and cocky when not protected by anonymity. That's it. I never said, "go get him guys!"

Last, the information I posted is public information that any one could have looked up at any time. It is no different than using Google, facebook or whatever to find information. Here is the disclaimer from the source:
