Heat isn't the issue. (nprime)

If you are a registered CW member and have purchased some of their products - don't you think that you deserve a better Sonar Forum without all of the BULLS**T?

It really annoys me to hear stuff like that.............yeah lets just roll over and accept it cos it will never change. CHANGE IT MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nobody here needs to listen to idiots rant/scream cos they have no consequences if they do rant/scream.

Has anyone got a backbone? This Forum (I've already said this) is for learning and fun - NOT unregistered idiots that have nothing better to do.

Believe me, there will be still ranting and raving and arguments from all the 'registered' members. It's just the nature of internet message boards. Always has and always will be. I believe in free speech anyway. You don't have to read it.

I do also believe that a lot of potential new CW customers come to this board to ask questions before purchase. I believe that alone is in the interest of Cakewalk.

Highly moderated message boards always become fascist dictatorships very quickly. Whole posts and threads disappear just because the 'moderator' decides it's unsuitable.

If you want real pain and suffering, head on over to Steve Albini's Electrical Audio message board. You'll soon be back here with flowers in your hand.

Who is the whiney **** that started this all, And why am I replying to this post? I think if you have a question, research and find the answer, if you don't like the answer move on till you find it. If you want to complain about the quality of the answers YOU searched for, Go on Facebook, Myspace, Twitter or YouTube and Whine! We are all here to give "Opinions and suggestions" good or bad. If you don't like what you get, change the channel or leave the site. You didn't pay to get this "support" so you have no right to down others for assisting your ass! We are here to “record our time” and you are wasting it!

How eloquentl! I hope you weren't going into a rant/scream when you were referring to the "unregistered idiots!" So is name-calling part of the "learning and fun" this forum is all about? Perhaps when there's "nothing better to do?"

But some individuals seem to come on here - rant, rave, and because they cannot find an answer to their problem immediately - they seem to go nuts with insults, etc.

So don't read them.

Vintagevibe, the "fairness (censorship) doctrine" is another step towards Socialism and abolishing the rights that this country was founded on. And I don't get my education from Wikipedia, thank you very much! The reason that Liberal radio does not work is that nobody wants to listen to that anti-American garbage (ask the radio station owners). I understand that the FCC has license wording that says "in the public interest" but why should the radio station owners be forced to put dysfunctional and unprofitable Liberal talk on their airwaves while just like CJ said almost all of the TV networks and most of the printed media are already Liberal biased? This current Socialist mentality from Obama and Congress should scare the hell out of you if you call yourself an American. Letting terrorist out of detainment to go back out and kill Americans (look it up) or signing a 800+ billion dollar stimulus bill that has 7% stimulus and 93% spending in it (and nobody had a chance to read it first!!!!). Anyways, back to the original point.....the Mods here do a great job and I see no need to make this a private club or censor peoples thoughts and opinions. This is still one of the most educational forums out of all the music related forums on the net IMHO. : )

If you dont like whats being discussed, dont listen to it, but htere banning what they dont like and this is censorship. god help us if they try to pass this No one forces me to listen to it. so this censorship doctrine is agaisnt the 1st amendment.
Gamma, im glad you get it.... Be carefull though, where in a liberal musician enviroment here. Proceed with caution

Perhaps you misunderstand my post...no one other than me has any right to filter, determine, prevent, or force me to read, watch or listen anything. The only one on earth who has such rights is me. Which is precisely what my previous post indicates - if you don't like what you hear or see - turn the dial.

Geez.......it was just an idea.

Obviously (in some of your minds) it wasn't the right idea.

I can't compare this Forum to other Forums cos I really don't have the time, nor am I interested.

I like this CW Forum - just thought it could be fine tuned a bit.

RE: PLEASE CAKEWALK - ONLY MEMBERS IN THIS FORUM 2009/02/21 15:04:57 (permalink)
I won't bother to read all the posts -- this is a touchy subject.

Just put me down with a loud NO for checking credentials before allowing people to sign up. I want open "membership" for any and all human beings who 1) wish to contribute, 2) are polite and respectful, 3) have some understanding of the written word, and 4) understand that the Sonar forum is for discussing Sonar. We don't need those who come here and ask for a recommendation on your favorite backup software and preface their intrusion with the statement -- "I know this is off topic but I'll get a bigger response in this forum.", the self-centered jerks.

One of worst features of the Steinberg forum was the "Show me your papers!" attitude of that the users adopted over there (mimicking the Heine forum monitors and ironically, the Gestapo in old WWII movies), when a noob wandered in an asked a simple question ("how do I install this thing?"). Bloody rude and insensitive and I want no part of it.

But, if that's what you want here, then why not take advantage of the generous crossgrade offers on Cubase V? It has way more features then Sonar, and you'll feel very much at home on their forum. May I suggest the other dongle-oriented forums, also, like Northern Sounds, Korg user's, and Native Instruments, all filled with you're kind of people?

Frankly, this attitude of "I paid for my Sonar and that gives me the right to be rude to anyone that I suspect hasn't paid for theirs" doesn't work on planet earth to help promote peace and harmony in our increasingly crowded world, and if this is what the Sonar forum is to become, then I become a short timer around here, and I imagine that i'm not alone in my thinking about this.

RE: PLEASE CAKEWALK - ONLY MEMBERS IN THIS FORUM 2009/02/21 16:11:45 (permalink)
Hi Malibu-

Well, you wanted opinions, didn't you? And you got 'em!

Mine is to keep these forums open to all, block people if you find them really offensive (although you'll probably see them quoted in replies, anyway!), skip posts and threads you have no interest in.

The fact that people come here with questions if they're trying the demo or <gasp!> a cracked version can really only help spread the word about SONAR. It's up to the Cakewalk moderators to police the forums and boot someone off if they're in clear violation of the TOS (which they did, just recently).

Some valued members (registered Users) have admitted to using a cracked version at some point, and while I don't condone that personally, they're now fully legit. If someone wants to come on and ask questions or even bash SONAR, that's okay with me. It's up to me how/if I want to respond, and I think that's how it should be.

-Susan

P.S. And as someone else said, limiting a forum to Registered Users by no means guarantees anything, let alone civility!

There are several threads on this very subject and not to leave anyone out, here's my thoughts again.
Basically, this campaign to make the forums more "exclusive" is the brainchild of a few whiney egotistical people. Some of which want to be self serving control freaks or they are afraid that their feelings might be hurt by someone with a different viewpoint than theirs.
My suggestion is this. If you don't like it here, instead of spending your efforts on whining, why don't you make your own private technical support clique forum and run it yourselves? I think Cakewalk should be spending their time and money fixing and improving the software instead of playing school hall monitor in these forums

after FCC deregulation of radio, most of the "mom and pop" stations were bought out by companies like Clear Channel...besides the homogenization of music stations on FM radio, there are now lots more politically slanted talk shows on AM, and it's naive to think it's because that's what the people wanted...the previous limiting of stations one party could own was because there was an underlining idea that the airwaves were really owned by the people and programming should represent them equally...certainly that was never really true, but talk radio at least supported a dialogue somewhat, and that's just plain gone now...i believe your example of tv networks is biased, but they will always represent the advertisers instead of the viewers like they always have...
