Cant get EZD to work
I have the program setup, it's coming up in my music creator as a plugin but when i drag and drop a groove into the track no sound comes out. If I click on a drum in the plugin the level bar jumps showing me that it is getting input from ezdrummer but I get no sound from the midi clips i drag and drop in. Any suggestions? this is really frustrating.

are you using the EZD drum map? if not, you'll need to get that from the Toontrack website in the download section.

ok, that worked. however, it seems like the maps arent hitting all drums... What's with all the outputs? What do they do?

ORIGINAL: holden_caufield9 What's with all the outputs? What do they do? Hi there Jamie, welcome aboard By 'outputs' are you referring to the EZ mixer? I may be able to walk you through setting up EZD if you like - won't take long at all! Steve

Steve, Thanks for the offer. I think i've figured out my first question. However, i'm running into something all together different now. When i drag and drop a groove into music creator it will randomly skip beats in the first "square" but if i copy and paste that groove to repeat it does not randomly miss beats. I think i just need to keep playing around with it. It's definitely more complicated than what i'm used too.

What options are you selecting when you insert EZD Jamie?

insert- soft synth- vst- ezdrummer then in the options box: midi source, first synth audio output, and recall assignable controls. Once i do that, i insert ezdrummer into the "fx" box of the soft synth track and put the midi groove from ezdrummer into the midi track. Then i change the output of the midi track to whatever output lets me hear it. in this case it was "4-ezdrummer-2"

OK Jamie - try this instead... On the Insert Soft Synth Options screen, in addition to what you've been selecting, also check the Synth Track Folder, the Synth Property Page and the Synth Rack View options. When you click OK the EZD interface should now open automatically - you'll have to wait a short while for all the drums to sound when you click on them because the samples have to be loaded into RAM. Now choose Open Grooves on the EZD interface - once you've found a groove you're happy with, drag it to the MIDI track: Hope that helps a bit Jamie - I'm off to bed now as it's getting late over here in Blighty but I'll check in tomorrow. Steve, This works a lot better now! The only thing i'm running into now is that the midi does not trigger right during playback. It will sound fine for the first few bars then it starts missing drum hits and basically falls apart and only plays a few drum sounds at random. I know this cant be a ram issue because i have 4gb of ram. I'm not sure what this could be.

Steve lives near England, so he's probably not up, being 4 am over there. A couple other people here have EZD, and Strummer will certainly check in tomorrow. What are the CPU and Disk readings at the bottom of the screen? Do you have a lot of other programs running in the background?

I dont have anything running in the background and the readings for cpu and disk are 1% and 0%. It almost sounds like humanize just turns it into the worst, drum missing, drummer ever haha.

Check you I/O buffer settings in 'Options>Audio>General'. If it's too low (the default is 128) and running at maximum latency, problems can occur. Search "Buffers" in the help file for more info.
