Incorporate an E-Kit?? Possible?

Hey, Everyone!
It's been A LONG TIME since I have visited the music creator thread...All your advice over the last couple of years has really been helpful. Recording is going very well, and my 14 year old son is now accompanying me in some projects. Great way to spend quality time together for sure. My question is sorta off base from my normal annoying technical stuff. My son has a friend who is a drummer. He has an electronic kit which we would like to incorporate into our projects. the kit is old and has no brain/module, but everything else is there. Is it possible to Plug directly into my midi port on my soundcard from the kit, and use MC4 as the "brain"? Or, is there some inexpensive software that we can use in the brain's place that works with MC4? Or, do I need to take an Ivy League course on midi assigning and mapping? Thanx in advance,

You should be able to plug in and go, using the TTS-1 soft synth's drums for the sound. You shouldn't have to do any MIDI mapping, presumably the drum kit already has pre-mapped note assignments. If it's General MIDI, the drums should correspond to the standard MIDI drum sounds. Give it a try.

What Greg said would be my thoughts too. Insert a MIDI track...set it up as channel 10 (default midi drums) .... connect the midi kit sending it's data on channel 10..... hit record and test it. It should be premapped...so playback should give you a reasonable sounding drum kit.

Let us know how it works.
