Musical/Comedy Fusion

Movies, TV, Stand Up, whatever... what is your favorite music/comedy pairing...as for me, there is one at the top, then lots of great ones somewhere below...

Victor Borge

This Is Spinal Tap
Weird Al Yankovic
School of Rock
The Wedding Singer
All the "_____ Shreds" videos on Youtube
David Bowie and Bing Crosby singing White Christmas (more freaky than funny, I guess)
The Monkees

and a nice take on 'Starksy & Hutch' incidental music..

    Bill Bailey

Excellent choice, he does a great Edge/U2 and a superb P5 version of BBC News 24 too...

Dudley Moore had a really infectious humour and a great player too.

    Les Dawson.....

    Jake Thackray was fantastic too;

    So he was Jamesy.

I went to the funeral yesterday of a well known Scottish musician, Matt Armour, I wonder if you have heard of him? who has been based in my local town for many years and ran the sunday lunchtime music session at my local bar link here Matt told me once of booking Jake to play in town many years ago, having to walk him around town before his gig, having imbibed a little too freely on the hospitality beforehand. Of course he went on to play a most entertaining session and is sadly missed.

So will Matt too I guess, I'm not a "folky" myself but appreciate good music of all genres like many of us here. In tribute, here's a link about Matt, RIP may his music live on.

    Peace Love and Understanding

I can't wait to look up all the links in this thread. Thanks! In the meantime, if you haven't seen Victor Borge, you've missed some of the best piano playing you'll see. Here's my all-time favorite: (Skip to the duet if you don't want to hear him explain it all.)

    That is funny.

Zappa once said at some senate investigating committee who was implying that the questionable lyrics in his music might insight promiscuity (or something like that) "I once wrote a song about dental floss but I am not aware that America's oral hygiene has improved..."

I see they've both been mentioned before, but I have a soft spot for Victor Borge and Jake Thackray - both of whom my dad used to love, it was he who introduced me to them.

I recently bought the Very Best of Jake Thackray CD and I've played it loads of times, the guy was a lyrical genius, and no slouch on the guitar either.

Oh, another big +1 for Andrew Preview on Morcambe & Wise
