Hi Everyone,
We've updated our support articles a bit to hopefully help prevent any future confusion between the SONAR VS-700 1.1.1 Update and the Fantom VS 1.10 Firmware Update.
To clarify...
The SONAR V-Studio 700 1.1.1 update is mainly a software update for the VS-700 Control Surface Plug-in. This update also installs the ARX Editor for users with ARX Expansion cards and provides a few other fixes and enhancements. This update is only required for SONAR 8.0 users and is not necessary for SONAR 8.5 users. These fixes and enhancements were already rolled into SONAR 8.5. For more information,
Determining whether or not this update has installed is super easy. Open a project in SONAR and create some audio tracks. On the VS-700C, hold down
ALT and press
SEL on one of your channel strips that is tied to an audio track. If this activates Channel Branch mode, then the update has installed. (The LCD on the VS-700C should say "Channel Branch" on the right when in this mode)
In regards to the Fantom VS, this is a firmware update for the Fantom VS hardware and is incidentally version 1.10 (not version 1.1.1). This is separate from the software update is recommended for everyone who owns a VS-700R. Obviously if you run the VS-700C as a stand-alone device, you do not need this update as you do not have a Fantom VS. For more information,
Determining if this update has installed successfully is a bit trickier so we have also added some instructions on how to find out the installed firmware version for your Fantom VS hardware. You can find these instructions
here.
I hope this helps to clarify things and I apologize for any confusion you may have experienced with which updates were necessary.
