"Yes, this IS true. My cousin was involved in that quest as well. Unfortunately, people quickly lost interest as they are not overly appreciative of groundhog music."

Come on Groundhog, your so wrong, it was hamsters:

In 2003 Levy Marcel Ingles Lorenzo, Jr. presented a paper to the Engineering Division of the Graduate School of Cornell University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master of Engineering (Electrical) on INTELLIGENT MIDI SEQUENCING
with HAMSTER CONTROL.

see: http://instruct1.cit.cornell.edu/courses/eceprojectsland/STUDENTPROJ/2002to2003/lil2/ for a link to a video of the little critters playing some tunes.

They make you groundhogs seems quite stupid, yes?

The all wonderful groundhog is overwhelmed by the warm messages of greeting from fellow Sonar users.

To: Godino
When is the hunting season for Groundhogs - Soon I hope!!

I looks like open season right now, based on review of the thread!

To Mcourtor:
Dear Mr. Hog: I'm sure this won't stump you, but, being in the pest control industry, I'm naturally curious: While groundhogs have a vast range, from which country are they indigenous? Also, would you better recommend chlorphacinone or diphacinone to eliminate a population (assuming strychnine is not available?)

All of your selections are effective but, talk to AT. Lead poisoning at high speeds is best.

To MemphisJo:

MIDI question:

is it true that a Cornell university student built an intelligent MIDI sequencer that used groundhog movements to control the system and generate music?

My congratulations to MemphisJo. The Groundhog was stumped. Thankfully.

Mcourtor and AT.... can I wear a blindfold?

1. Sonar (originally an acronym for sound navigation and ranging) is a technique that uses sound propagation (usually underwater) to navigate, communicate with or detect other vessels. There are two kinds of sonar. Can you name them?

2. The world's first patent for an underwater echo ranging device was filed at the British Patent Office by what English meteorologist?

3. During World War I the need to detect submarines prompted more research into the use of sound. The British made early use of underwater hydrophones, while what French physicist, working with a Russian émigré electrical engineer, Constantin Chilowski, worked on the development of active sound devices for detecting submarines in 1915 using quartz?

1. Active and Passive.

2. Lewis Richardson.

3. Paul Langevin

When I was young you could still get .25c a tail for ground hogs (actually prairie dogs or richardson's ground squirrel where i was raised).

Is that still the going rate ?
