Waves Plugin Not Working With Fresh Sonar7
I recently upgraded my motherboard and cpu to a dual core and did a fresh install of Sonar7 Pro. While everything else seems to be working fine, one of my plugins crashes the computer when I try to play a track with the plugin on it. The Waves soundshifter. I have used it on my old system and had no problems. All of the other Waves Plugins from the bundle are working correctly. The plugin also works in fruity loops correctly so It can't be the plugin. I did a fresh install of the waves bundle again just to make sure but still won't work. Is there something I need to do with Sonar when running on a dual core machine?

Is there something I need to do with Sonar when running on a dual core machine? What do you mean by doesnt work?? its kinda broad. doesnt work can mean many things. I used wave plugins on a dual and now a quad core. They work on multi core pc's. did you run the wave profiler?? Are they in your plugin manager?? Dx or VSt??? or both?? Cj

I can see the plugin in the plugin manager in sonar. But when I put it on a track and play the track it starts to play for a second and then the computer locks up. I then have to reboot. I have tried using a longer buffer and that doesn't help any.

Certain variations of that plug are meant to be used offline. You're not trying to use the offline one in realtime, right? I think it's the "Soundshifter-P" that can be used in reatlime. I don't have that plug on my home setup, but I'm pretty sure thats how it works.

One more thing - make sure you're using the VST plugin, not the DirectX one... M

Actually the Soundshifter-P is an online plugin. I know that it works because I used it with my old system. And all I did was transfer over the complete project so everything was the same except it would not play with that plugin active.

which exact same problem? let's try to solve your problem with you giving us the details of your problem. I'm sure there are likely differences, even if it's a difference between your computer operating system than the OP has since this is nearly 3 years old.
